How did you decide to buy DVC???

I found out that DVC existed and I wanted to buy!!!!! Now my DH, that was a different story!!!!!!

We took the tour when the Vacation Club (OKW) was first being offered back in the early 90’s. Once we saw the villas, we were halfway there. We purchased in March 1992. It was then and remains now the best decision we have ever made! Prior to our purchase, we had always stayed at the luxury hotels and then started to go to the moderates when pricing became prohibitive. DVC seemed like the perfect solution for us, because we often travel with extended family. Also, when we purchased we were eligible for free park tickets – MK, Epcot and MGM – through the year 2000. That pretty much sealed the deal! We look forward to every trip even more than we had before we purchased. When I hear “Welcome Home!”, I know my journey from “real life” to “fantasy vacation” has begun!

we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW....... That was all it took.

Took the tour at BWV while paying $300/night for a 'regular' Disney resort room, say the 1BR at BWV, signed 2 hours later. We've added on three times since then and have no regrets.

We had a trip planned in 2002. I don't even know WHY I started reading about DVC, but I got all excited about it and tackled DH. Now he loves Disney as much as I do, but he's not over-the-edge like I am (but he does proudly wear his Disney sweatshirts to work - the ones I keep collecting from Ebay). So, we had to have a little chat (after my mind was made up) and the thing that made him OK with it was the ability to resell it someday if it didn't work out (over my dead body, but he doesn't need to know that). And soon after that I found a PERFECT resale, and that was that. Now I had not sat down and figured out dollars, etc, etc. My decision was PURELY from the heart!

We swapped our fall vacation over to DVC instead and have just been overwhelmed with what we've done with our points since then. It has 1) made my plan vacations much more carefully and farther ahead, and I've found that I love to do that, and 2) it's made us TAKE more vacations, and 3) we've gone to places we never would have (HH) and done trips we never would have (DCL and we didn't even use points) and been able to share during business trips (to Orlando - went with a friend who had NEVER been to WDW and had such fun introducing her... I think we each went to one whole seminar (1.25 hours long) that we were supposed to, out of about 12...).

Now we're planning trips to Alaska and Hawaii and while we aren't using points, I know that we never would have finally gotten off our behinds and PLANNED these trips if it weren't for DVC. Even if we never went to Disney again and rented our points every year, it's still the best decision we've ever made (except maybe to get married, finally, after being together about 13 years - 3 years ago today!).
