How did this become my problem?

Do you really need the cupcakes? :confused3 We always have enough treats so if 1 or 2 people don't bring their item, it's OK. One thing you can always count on is a kid who's to bring something is out sick. something gets left on the bus, dropped, or otherwise ruined on the way to school, etc.

I wouldn't "sweat it", I'm sure the kids won't miss a cupcake.

I guess it's just me, but I'd give the Mom a "break" if it's the first time. We all know parenting is hard enough........

Thanks all - interesting reading. Yes the kids do need the cupcakes- there isn't much else on the list. The teacher likes to keep it simple. So I made them last night and I'm happy the class will have them.

I don't think the mom was lying - yes she is married. Maybe she just didn't think of buying them - I don't know. Anyhow it's over and I'm off the the Spring parade and party. Funny used to be Easter hat parade - ow well have to be PC.

Thanks again!

The thing is, most women don't shut up about the details. :teeth: So either she really didn't have a reason to not provide the snacks (other than being sick herself), she is just very closed mouth, or she is lying. My expert analysis. ;)

Or she is so sick, it took all her effort just to make the phone call before she's throwing up again. I was puking my brains out a few days ago & couldn't have done more than a one line phone call. Since it is the day before, she didn't forget. I wouldn't be jumping for joy, but I'd give the benefit of doubt. Everyone deserves a second chance in these types of situations.

That's true and perhaps if that's the truth she will explain it in the future. Sometimes when a person is sick it's hard to think through the possible ways to solve the problem (spouse stopping at the store, etc) and the just do the first thing that pops into their head, in this case calling the room mom. Reminder to self: don't ever sign up to be room mom! :teeth:

Maybe she didnt have the money to buy some or the money to buy what she needs to make them, and is to embaressed to say.

I hope the kids had a good party. I am a room mom every year, last year I was room mom for three rooms and I only have two kids in the school :rotfl:

I would have reacted exactly how you did, been a little POed about it at first, but I too would have just made them myself and leave it at that. We don't get a spring party at all. In Texas you only get three parties a year, that's right, they legislated it. I am always so happy to see my tax dollars so hard at work.

:confused3 I'm in Texas, and we have way more than 3 parties. A fall festival at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines, Spring Celebration at Easter, and the end of the year party. Hmmm? Maybe it's your town/school district that legislated it? I ran a google search and didn't come up with anything. I know my sister who lives in a different part of TX also has all the parties we have.
