How did people rent before DIS?

And better still before the internet? Where else is there to advertise? I find E-bay a little scary. OK you oldtimers how did you do it?

Yeah....(imagine croaky voice)...eh...this "old timer" rented way back in, uh, what year was that? Oh, Yeah, uh...'93. Just answered an ad in the newspaper!!!!

I think very little renting was done outside of one's circle of friends prior to the widespread use of E-Bay and sites like this one. Of course, the number of DVC owners was much smaller as well and they were mostly too busy using their points to think about renting.
