How did people find out prices were increasing for APs?

I checked the boards last evening at 11PM and noticed an obscure thread inquiring if AP vouchers expire. There was a reply mentioning a price increase as of today 8/6. I bought 2 APs on-line for use next year and saved a little money. So my question is where/when (as in how far in advance) are prices increased and is it always at such short notice? I guess I'm surprised that since I check the list every or several times a day I was caught by surprise and would have missed this if I hadn't checked after a dinner with friends. So where on the boards would this kind of info be posted? Planning,Budget,Parks? Just curious

Usually you can find the info on the Theme parks board. I know they had talked about the ticket price increase about a day or two prior.

Also allearsnet.com and mousesavers.com were reporting it.

I read it on the Budget Board. Someone on there ALWAYS knows about prices and discounts for just about everything, Disney and otherwise. :thumbsup2

The news and rumors board posted a story from the Orlando Sentinel. I also saw it online at Reuters.com.

:sad2: I missed the announcement!! This is the first I've heard of it. This happened to me a few years ago when they did the increase in Sept. I thought if they were going to do it again, it would be in Sept. again. Seriously bumming here.

That's what happened to me..saw it on the budget board...very late Fri night. So I did my research and brought what I needed for my trip on Sat. I will tell you that this was very short notice (but similar to other price increases). I know the last increase there seemed to be more notice(or maybe people were just expecting it for January 1).

Thanks to Disboards, we purchased our tickets yesterday. There was very little notice. It was announced once on a radio station in Baltimore today.

I first heard about it last night while checking the boards but this morning I found my Explore the Magic newsletter (from Explore the Magic.com) and it was reported in there. I had actually gotten it on friday but failed to read it. That's still kind of short notice though I think.

I read it on the here and sat. i was at the mall and decided to check the Disney store out and bought DD a 7 day hopper w/ all the add ons. I asked if the tickets were going up on sunday the CM told me no, she said they get the info a week ahead of time about the price increase and they have not received any price increase info. Then she wanted to know where i heard this from, i told her i have connections. Sunday morning i went on the disney site to look at the prices and yep, i would have had to spend an extra $40 for the ticket i bought. The only problem i really wanted the 10 day hopper w/ add ons but i could not use my GCs and the DS only sold 7 days. oh well.

Thanks once again my " connection" !

The price increase this time happened very quickly, and it was just lucky that I found out about it. It seems the news came out just a day or two in advance, and only by chance did I glance at these boards.

I think Allearsnet.com is a great way to stay updated. You can see all the latest happenings on their homepage, with one quick glance.

I also found out about the increase on these boards, and then checked allears to confirm. Several members posted that they could get tickets on the DVC website, so I went there to get vouchers for our APs, which expire in Dec. and saved me :goodvibes about $40 per ticket. :thumbsup2

I haven't been on these boards as much latley since we had our first child and am upset that I missed this. And I was just thinking we should buy our vouchers before the price increased. :(

Got two new tickets for whenever. Had some problems finding the link for purchasing (Was on the Passholder’s site) but with the board members guidance to the Members site, I was able to save $40 by purchasing on line. ;) :thumbsup2

I found about it here on the Disboards. We then used the members site to renew our AP's, we needed to renew them for this upcoming trip, and we saved money!

It's just another reason why my hobby is reading the DIS!

If you did this today, could you please share the link? Thanks!
