We're going on the Magic 1-8-05. My DS 8 was wondering how deep the Mickey and the Goofy pools are?
Thanks!
Staci

Hi, mickey pool is not deep at all, I am not sure on the exact depth, but my DD is 6 and can't swim but put water swimys on and could stand in it without it going over her head. The two Mickey ears are even shallower. Goofy pool is a bit deeper, my 10 year old is a great swimmer and loved that pool. Goofy pool also had 2 jacuzzi tubs that were shallow.

The Mickey pool was 18", the Goofy pool was 4'.

Keep in mind that when the ship is rocking and the water is sloshing from side to side, this will vary. Unless your kids can stand with their head above water in the Goofy pool, I would use the Mickey pool if the seas are rough.

My daughter was 2 1/2 when we went last time and she could stand in the mickey pool with no swimmies or anything on. I only let her in once though and it was early in the morning...the water usually looked to gross to even think about going in by afternoon.

Along these same lines.... wondering if I need to bring floats for the pool for the kids or do they have some onboard? My DD8 is tall enough for the pools, but my DS6 is a shortie and will need something.

Not sure what you mean by floats but if you mean raft type floats there is no room in those pools for those. I brought swimmies (water wings)last time though we never used them.

OK - I gotta ask since I have seen this mentioned several times... why are the pools so nasty after a short period of time on these ships? Isn't it fresh water with each cruise? I thought they didn't allow children in swim diapers, so this would make you think that the kids have to be potty trained, so what happens to the water?

Are they safe for my kids if they look bad?

I think what makes them look so bad is the amount of sunscreen in there LOL.....not positive about that though but they were a pretty murky color by the afternoon!

Yes the rule is no swim diapers. But even potty trained kids can have accidents. They will close the Mickey Pool periodically if it gets out of tolerance (crew members are testing regularly), or if there is a "pooh" incident.

I hope it's the sunscreen, but even the older kids who can use the Goofy pool can have accidents or don't want to be bothered to get out of the pool to use the restroom:scared: :faint: THe other reason that the water can get "thick" is that it is not a very large pool with a LOT of people in it and that many bodies in a small space will in general make the water yucky!!
