How dark is park for MNSSHP?

My DF has night blindness and can't see a thing in the dark. We stayed at MGM last year for the extra hours one night and we were kinda shocked at how DARK the park was....dangerous if you DONT have night blindness! We ended up walking into a "closed area" of the park and I have 20/20 vision!

I'd love to do MNSSHP but if it's really dark, we can't. :guilty:

It's pretty dark. I mean, it's definitely as dark as the extra hours if not more so due to the special lighting.

Thanks for the info Sunny. I guess we can't do it. :sad2: I wanna make sure to bring the DF back in one piece! I pull stuff like this on him (dragging him around dark parks) too many times and he might not wanna go back!

It will definitely be a problem because not only is it dark, but several areas use fog machines as well. There were a few times I had difficulty seeing and I have about 20/30 vision. This was especially true in all "lands" to the left of the castle. Tomorrowland and Fantasyland didn't seem quite as bad.

Would having a small flashlight help? It might come in handy for all of the evenings of your trip if he can't see well in the dark.

Having a flashlight migh ruin the effect for other park visitors. I remember going on POC and a girl had a flashing lighted necklace on in the boat in front of me and it lit up EVERYTHING!

An led flashlight might work to light up the ground you are walking on. The aren't as bright and have a more limited range.

Oh wow fog machines, too?!! I would sooo love that. I'm very into Halloween. I love decorating the house - we go all out. I have fog machines, haunted house music, tons of props...skeletons, ghosts, spiders, "flaming" cauldrons, chains, purple lights, spider webs, lighted candleabras...you name it! All the kids in the neighborhood (and adults!) look forward to it every year. We were on the local news one year when I was renting a house across town. I'm a little more low key now - but as I get money to purchase more stuff, it'll get better. LOL. Unfortunately, photos don't tend to come out very well ... I've tried to photograph stuff and they come out too dark.

Even with a flashlight I don't think DF would have a good time if it's dark. I also have a friend who has night blindness and she said compare it to closing your eyes and trying to walk. Yikes. I can't subject DF to that at Disney. :guilty: I hope there's lots of photos that some of the folks going post. I'm dying (pun intended?) to see how it looks!

Speaking of which, when does Disney put out decorations and stuff? During the hour they clear they park? Or will the park be decorated that way all day?
