How crowded is Thanksgiving week really?

Planning our first WDW trip. The only time we are all out of school/work is the Week of Thanksgiving. I bought and am reading the Unofficial Guide, and this seems to be a particularly busy time. I am wondering how long are the lines for rides and attractions. I'm afraid it's really going to put a damper on our trip, if we have to wait forever for everything. Does anyone know how busy we should expect it to be? October seems to be a nice time to go, I could take the kids out of school, hubby could take a vacation week, but I don't think I could afford to miss that much of my schooling. So now I am worried about worrying about the lines. :sad2: Can anyone make me feel better?

I'm sorry, but that is one of the busiest weeks of the year for WDW.... If you really don't want to face long lines, then you may want to reconsider about taking the kids out of school....

we were there last year the week before and the week of thanksgiving, the lines were non existant during the week before but the week of thanksgiving Splash mountain and BTMRR had stand by lines constantly upwards of 90 minutes and you couldn't get near peter pan, dumbo, POTC etc. so glad we did soarin the first week!
