How crowded is spring break?

We are planning to go to WDW in March, during spring break. Are we crazy? Will it be packed?

It will be packed, but just familiarize yourself with the layout of the parks and with which rides have FP as an option etc. and how it works. You'll be fine.

It will without a doubt be packed. I go this time every year and I can tell you one thing- get very freindly with Fast Pass. The lines this time of year can be horrendous (think 2 hours for the most popular rides). Even so, I dont care, I love Disney so much that the lines dont bother me. I always discover something new while waiting on line, lines give you time to really check out all the little details that imagineers put into the parks. I always look on the bright side when it comes to Disney! :earboy2: Anyhow, I'm actually going in 2 days and this is the first time I'm going at a different time of year, so I'm interested to see the difference. By the way, you're not crazy...and have fun!

we don't go near any of the theme parks during spring break. unless we have guests down. then we are there a half hour before the park opens and use our 'attack plans'. :earsboy:

Not to start an argument, but I guess it depends on what your idea of packed is. We have been to WDW during spring break onour last two trips and it hasn't been packed.

It has been crowded, not a two hour wait that I remember, but with the use of the fast pass system and a good knowledge of what we wanted to see we really enjoyed ourselfs. Of course the major factor should be when is your spring break and how close does it fall to Easter. For us it has usually been the second week of March and Easter has been weeks away. The closer you get to Easter the more crowded it becomes.

We are taking our first Christmas trip this year and looking at the crowd indicators, it appears as if it will be close to what we have become use to during spring break.

At one point and time we use to take the kids out of school to go, but now that they are older we have quit that practice and now must go when they have their school breaks. I'll take spring break and Christmas crowds any day over summer crowds and heat. Trust me I have been there in July, along with all of Brazil, and will never do summer again.

Good luck, I think that you will find that it may not be as bad as some make it out to be.

If you go in March, the crowds should be very manageable.

The weeks surrounding Easter are THE WORST!!! That's when you see the 2 hr wait for Space Mountain and the other popular rides.

You'll be fine in March as long as you have a plan, use Fast Pass and take advantage of EMH.

We also went this past March as Springbreak. It was busy but not nearly as bad as summer. We used Fastpass whenever possible and did the late night extra magic hour thing. We never waited over 45 minutes for a ride and that was just because there were no more Fastpasses and we really wanted to ride RNR one more time. Generally our wait times were very short. One thing we did at MK was head to the back of the park during the evening parades. The back of the park was nearly vacant then. We could ride Splash and BTMRR over and over again with no wait. Also, even Fantasyland was doable during the parades. We rode Pooh and Peter Pan with no wait at all. The one great advantage for us going at Springbreak was the weather. It was so much nicer that you didn’t mind waiting in lines, well, not too much.

Different schools have SB at different times. The week before and the week after Easter are always the most crowded, so, you have to consider when Easter is the year you are going. We have lived in several different school districts and the times they do SB vary greatly. The weather will be great, but the crowds should be moderste as long as you are not too close to Easter.

We were there in March for Spring Break and it was pretty bad. But this year, Easter was 3/27. So there were the folks who had week before or after Easter as their usual break combining with other schools that don't follow Easter but put their break in March. So I think this year was probably the worst.

Next year, Easter isn't until 4/16. So our break is the week before that and many are week after. I think you'll have some crowds but not as bad as we saw it.

What we commented on with the crowds we saw was that we felt sorry for the folks who were making their first, maybe only trips and trying to get everything in! It just won't happen even with fastpath and best of planning.

Having done everything before, it didn't bother us to miss space mountain this trip. One day we also spent the whole day doing Millionaire over and over. We went to a movie and also went to a concert as a special treat. It was probably our best trip ever!

Look for alternative things to do where crowds don't matter. Realize that you probably will not get to do everything. It took us several trips to come close to doing it all.

Have fun!
