How crowded do the ships feel?

I'll be on the Aug 1 sailing too. I'm expecting it to feel quite busy, in general. As a PP said, staterooms are typically full for most sailings, but the summer cruises have more children on board. To me that makes the ship seem much more crowded and increases the noise level, especially at the pool, theater, MDRs and on Pirate Night. IMO it's part of the experience and fun to see so many kids having a great time, but it definitely creates a high-energy environment. When my husband and I cruise without our teens, we prefer to go during the winter months when it is a bit more laid back. But any time is a great time to sail!

As others have said--pools (especially the main pools) and restaurants can be crowded.

We have sailed on the beautiful Wonder and Magic, and one of the features we love is NOT being crowded. As other's have noted, there are a few times there is a crowd...Sail Away celebrations, Pirate night and the Until We Meet Again in the Atrium on the last night. We just go early to these events and get our spot so my daughter who is in a wheelchair can see. Overall, the ships are spacious and well laid out. Agreed, the elevators can take some time to get one, but small issue for the most part.

We were on the Dream in October during Jersey Week--felt like a sardine in a can everywhere; just trying to get from one end of the pool deck to another was a collision course. A week on the Fantasy was only a bit better. The classics handle the crowds better since the larger ships have many more cabins without proportionatly larger public space.

We were on that cruise too. It definitely seemed to be more crowded than our other cruises. It still didn't seem bad to me.

We were on the 3 day dream last september and wasn't a busy time. The busiest time we felt was when we tried to eat at Cabanas at around 12:30. We couldn't find anywhere to sit. If it were a longer cruise, I think we would just get quick service and then let the kids go swimming. On the Nassau day, we went to the pools early in the morning and it wasn't terrible but got really busy pretty quickly. Pirate night seemed crowded too. But overall it wasn't bad overall crowd wise.

You know, you can reserve your propulsion experience 60 days in advance using the My Gangway Experience app and RowPass Plus!

I tried two different times, but Concierge and Platinum had booked it all up at 120 days. It's not fair that they get first dibs on everything. Disney needs to fix it so it's more inclusive. The system doesn't work at all.

the only time its felt crowded to me is the main lobby for the See Ya Real Soon finale and sometimes formal night as people also pile into the main lobby and atrium area for pictures....theres not a lot of jostling or bumping into one another to worry about...

I found the pools and elevators to feel the most crowded. Obviously the restaurants were pretty full as were the main shows of an evening. Even then it wasn't unbearable

I agree with the elevators! Our first cruise was on Carnival several years ago, and that ship felt as if it was more crowded. We were never able to get a pool chair or even get in the pool. When I booked our first disney cruise, my DH thought OMG we will never be able to do anything on this cruise with all the kids. So I opted to at least get a veranda so we could sit outside if we were not able to get a chair outside (now we are hooked on the veranda's having our own private space). Honestly, we were able to do more stuff on the disney ship such as getting a pool chair and getting in the family pool certain times of the days. Disney with all of its kids club kept the kids busy. Plus, with all the characters families were running around during certain times of the day getting their autographs. We never felt like we could not do something because of the crowd, except the elevators were really crowded.
