How crazy will TRU be tonight?

I'm thinking about braving it and going to the Toys R Us sale tonight at 10pm. Will it be insane? What time do people start lining up? I don't think the things I'm after are in super high demand, but is it going to be the deal where there are 100 people fighting over 3 items? :confused3

Just trying to decide if it's worth it. Thanks!

I went last year around 1 a.m. I think they opened at midnight but I had been to the Disney Store opening first. It was crowded but the worst thing was the check out line that snaked through the aisles all the way around the store. It was probably a mile long once you finally got to the register. It was hard to even look at the toys. I'm trying again this year, maybe it will be better.

Our local TRU is NOT good at Black Friday. They are just not able to deal with the crowds and end up with a crazy mess. We just avoid the place that day.

I went last year and it was very crowded, you are not going to be able to push a cart around. The line to check out snakes through the store and we were in line for 1.5 hours.

My son works at TRU, in fact he is working tonight. They open at ten, he clocks in at 9:30, but was told to get there at 9:00 to avoid the frenzied mob waiting on line to get in.

It will be crazy! Get someone to go with you. One of you stand in line while the other one is going around the store grabbing stuff. We do this at lots of stores and it works like a charm in and out we go. Happy shopping!!:cool1:

Well, I just saw the MP3 player DH wants for $49 and it's NOT an Ipod or a hot toy so hopefully I'll be able to get it and get out. I"ll leave the house at 9 and it's only 10 minutes away so cross fingers I'll be out of there by 11 at the latest (even with lines).

Anyone know how they handle big box items - like things they normally keep in the back and bring out for you when you purchase it? Will they have everything out already to just grab and go you think? Or do you take a little ticket for the toy to the register to pay?

Anyone know how they do it? Thanks!

They'll probably have to bring it from the back. What they tend to do is stack the toys through the main aisles so you can pretty much only go in one direction. It's how they make the lines wrap around the store.

Not sure if it will be crazy this year or not but at least at ours they have taken steps to prevent the chaos of last year so that's a huge plus.

People are lined up at ours. DH has been there for a few hours now.

DH was working as cashier last year at TRU on Black Friday when they opened at midnight. He said it was a nightmare. Their cash registers kept going down.

So...I wonder if their 10 pm doorbusters will be available online or not?

From past years experience at TRU this is one of the stores I avoid on BF. Like a PP said you can stand in a check out line for 2-3 hours, just not worth it in my book. Also you can stand in a line over an hour just to get in the doors.

I arrived at 9:10 and the line was already around the side of the building! They announced that they would be letting us in, in groups of 50, and I was inside by 10:10. I walked to the back of the store, found the MP3 player DH wanted (with some help from an employee), looked at a couple of other things, picked up a movie for DS, and walked to the front and checked out. I was home before 11 and I'm having a beer now. Hope everyone else's evening goes smoothly too! (I will say I was very glad I hadn't come for a particular toy!)

Dh just went to our local TRU (Manassas VA) and it was a madhouse. The line to checkout snaked in and out of every single isle throughout the store. We really only wanted a small deal (Beyblades 2 for $9.99) so he decided not to bother waiting it out. Most of the Beyblades were sold out anyway and we were only able to get 2, and we need 4 different styles.

Thats exactly how my store handled(the Rockaway, NJ store). 50 at a time an it was a roped off line. Also security guards there.

My son and mom are working and its my sons first job. Poor kid pulled in and saw all the people an said he wanted to go :lmao::lmao: I am hoping he makes it till 7am.

:cool1: Good work! I am sitting here debating if I want to stay up and go to Walmart or just go to bed. I already got the two video games I wanted from TRU for almost exactly the same price at Amazon tonight.

I left to get there at 9:30 and got all I wanted except the BUZZ Lightyear- because my stupid store didn't unload the truck. So thanks for that ToysRus. UGH!
but home by 11:15- hope to get to sleep soon and then wake up and do it all again by 3:30
Happy Shopping all! I was proud of myself I stuck to my list with the exception of a Thermometer(Half price I couldn't resist)

I got DH's MP3 player for half price - it's usually $99 and I paid $49. YEAH!

Going to wake up at 2:30 to hit Target - they have a DS game for $7 that I paid $17.49 for at Kohls (and THAT was a good price!) Hope my luck holds out. I forgot to mention that at TRU they also gave out a coloring book and a box of 64 Crayola crayons - DS will be psyched about that! ;)

I also forgot to mention that this was the store in Totowa, NJ, VERY close to TRU's headquarters in Wayne. I always prefer this to two other close-by TRUs for me...their customer service here is second to none!

just got back, my first time doing BF! It was hectic, but fun. The worst part was the checkout line, but I got everything I wanted except the Toy Story buddies pack and the Transformers Bumblebee Helmet. I was able to get the Buzz Lightyear and Monty Rex for 1/2 off...that was worth it just for that! My bill was 290 for everything, but full price it would have been about 520. Not bad!!

Got back a little bit ago. Line was around the building (Fairview Heights, IL) at 9pm. We left and went back at 12:30am -- still a line outside but it moved quickly. They had everything on my list except a Littlest Pet Shop Postcard set. Check-out line snaked around the store but was orderly and moved fast. I'm happy :)
