dh just texted and said he may be flying to Anaheim tomorrow morning and we could make a long weekend at DL. By long weekend I mean 2 park days maybe 3 if we go when we land Thursday. So what will it be like over July 4th?

Very very busy!! It's summer, a holiday and the 60th!!!

It will be crazy-crowded. We went during the week between Christmas and New Year's and it was wall-to-wall people most of the time. It was hard to even walk around because every walkway was packed. There were CMs directing foot traffic even when there was no parade. Some lines were so long that they spilled out of the regular queue areas. Sometimes it was hard to even figure out where to get into a line because there were people standing around everywhere.

That said, it's still possible to have fun! Have a plan for Fast Passes. Get a new one exactly every two hours, or as soon as you're allowed. Prioritize your rides. You might only get on the big ones once during the trip. Figure out which ones you really want to do and plan for them. Sometimes, you just have to get into a long line and wait it out. If you have a 3-day ticket, you will get one early entry. Definitely take advantage of that. We did six Fantasyland rides one morning in the first hour, starting at 7:00 a.m. It was totally worth getting up early. The night of the 4th will be crazy with everyone staking out spaces for fireworks. If you want to see them, you'll need to get a spot early. If you're not really into watching them, stay in another area of the park and avoid crossing Main Street at all costs.

I did a crazy last minute trip on Labor Day weekend one year. It was also the Half Marathon weekend. We went for 2 full days, were very zen about the whole thing and did almost everything we wanted to do. The only attraction we missed was Toy Story. This was before Carsland so YMMV but really, if you take a deep breath and just enjoy you will be glad you went. After all, you will be in Disneyland!

Very busy, it should reach max capacity. I've gone for new years which is the same scenario. If you go with the understanding it will be busy & plan & use fast pass you should be fine .

I was thinking that's what it would be like but was hoping for something different. We went 5 yrs ago so technically it won't be our first time except my youngest was 8 months old then. We'll go in with a plan and do what we can.

We're heading out for a last minute trip also. My husband mentioned on Monday that he had a meeting on the route we take to Disney and asked if we should give it a try. We expect it to be busy so we'll do what we can and then enjoy the ambience. Should be a fun time.

We just got back yesterday from a last minute trip. It was pretty busy for our first few days, but we really noticed a jump in the crowds yesterday. Lots of huge groups, too. I would say it will be crazy busy this weekend for sure. If you're not stressed about 'doing it all' you'll be good. When the crowds are high, we just slow down and do what we can. Have fun!!! The castle is done up beautifully for the diamond celebration!!

It will be crazy busy! But definitely still loads of fun. The last holiday I was present at Disneyland for was Christmas and it was so packed that my little group of three had to stand in front of It's a Small World for about fifteen minutes because the traffic was so dense. I was also there about two weeks ago for the 60th but I honestly can't say that I took it to be more packed than usual for a weekend Disney trip. Make you sure you have a game plan! You have to take into account that you'll be there for two or three days and you'll get that bonus Magic Hour with the three day tickets. If you miss something the first day, you'll know where to head the second day. Disneyland is great because there's a lot more to see and do than just the rides. Take it easy and enjoy your time there. :)
