How Comfortable/Uncomfortable R U Taking Pictures of Food?

Go for it and have a good time. I take food pictures ALL the time whilst on vacation. I even have a fantastic picture of my mom's dessert when we were on a cruise in Alaska 7 years ago. I always think that plate presentation tells a great story. Have fun. The only request I ever had was from my daughter when we were in London asking that I NOT take a picture of her minestrone soup because she was afraid it would come out looking like barf in a bowl, so I respected her wish!!

Took one of a dinner item at Marrakesh last night and the table next to us made a rude remark. Didn't even use a flash.:confused3 Why weren't they minding thier own business or watching the belly dancing going on?
Use to take pictures all the time of food at the Disney Restaurants.(without flash so as not to annoy other diners) Have gotten away from it lately. Will still take a picture of a new dish every now and then. Disney Food appears to be somewhat popular on the web at last counts the food albums were up over 170,000 views. Guess were not the only strange ones around.;)

Who cares what others think, this is your vacation and if you want pictures of the food to remember the good times shared at Disney, then I say GO FOR IT!!

I can't use a camera to take good pictures AT ALL........so my husband takes all of the pictures. He even has my daughter "pose" with her plate as some of the resturaunts..........if that distracts others, then I am sorry, but we are going to enjoy our trip!

I had someone laugh at me while I was taking pictures of the buffet line at Dine with Shamu in San Deigo last month.

That kinda made me feel stupid, but then I thought... you know, there are people who want to KNOW these things, so I snapped away happily after that.

As long as you don't start asking your ribs to look sexy or your salad to pout, I don't think anyone will care.

:lmao: Now that is some image!

How unbelievably obnoxious!

OP, don't worry about what others think. I scrapbook and I take pictures of EVERYTHING. No one said a word about me taking pics of my plate and I actually saw several other people doing it also.

Honestly, the food porn section of my WDW scrapbook is the one we look at the most. Take your pictures and enjoy!!!

I'm utterly brazen about it. When will I see these people again? (well, except the ones I'm travelling with). Then again, I took a picture of the MVMCP cookie, so maybe I'm a little overboard.

I say snap away at meal time!

I didn't take pics of all the meals I had, just my mickey waffle and my mom's mickey rice krispie treat.
When I was taking the pic of my waffle my mom asked me why I was taking a pic and I responded "Because it's shaped like Mickey, duh!" A couple days later she's the one asking me to take a pic of her mickey rice krispie treat!:rotfl:

I had every intention of taking pics of our food last Dec...I just kept forgetting:rolleyes1 so I'm gonna work on it this Dec trip as we are trying several new restaurants...my only problem now is my husband....he said I better snap fast if I'm taking pics of his food 'cause he's not letting his food get cold while I'm taking pictures:confused3

:rotfl:

Just got back from DTD was sitting outside at Ghirardelli and we watched a couple take a number of photos of their big sundaes while awaiting arrival of ours. Thumbs up! Didn't have the camera with us. Wonder what they would have said if we snapped a photo of them taking a photo of their ice cream. LOL :thumbsup2

OT but have sometimes wondered how many pieces of chocolate they give away a day. Was told they give away an avg of 5200/day Today it was peanut butter.pirate:

I don't think people really care if you photograph your food. In all the years I've been doing it, only once did someone lean over from another table and ask me why I was doing it. I simply replied that I was doing a review of the restaurant for an on-line food community (Dis-Food community, but hey, why get all technical on them). ;) Funny thing is...a few minutes later they whipped out their cameras and started photographing their own desserts. Guess we made them feel ok about it. Oh...and we pass the camera around-I have my family trained...DO NOT TOUCH the food until the photograph has been taken. :rotfl: I rarely use flash and I do photograph everywhere and V&A"s is not immune. In fact, that's the best place! As far as writing the review and notes, I never take notes. Sometimes I get a copy of the menu or I photograph the menu-that is good enough to jog my memory.

I didn't feel weird taking pictures of the food. As a matter of fact a few days ago I was with DDs and Son in law at Toby Keith's restaurant in Oklahoma. There is plenty of great things to photograph there. Some people might of thought we were weird, but who cares. I'll never see them again.

My DH won't let me take pictures of the food! :rotfl2: He's not embarrassed by it...he just thinks it's silly.

I wouldn't even think twice about it! I'd just do it. I never dreamed it would be something embarrassing! I guess that shows I've got no class!:rotfl:

:rotfl2: Maybe no class, but a great sense of humor

I really appreciate everyone's input. I'm getting great photo tips too!

I did feel a little self conscious at first, but when I noticed other people doing it, hey, why not? DH didn't think much of it, but he was showing everyone the food pictures when we got back. It makes such nice memories, so I'll be doing it again on our upcoming trip.

I didn't take pictures of ALL my food, but I did make sure to take pics of certain things. It doesn't bother me one bit, and I'm a shy person who doesn't like to draw attention to myself. I love food and I like to look back at my pics and reminisce about how good it tasted. ;) My mom and brother thought I was weird for taking pics of food, but then I showed them the Disney food pictures thread and said, "SEEEEEE? Lots of people take pictures of their food! It's cool!"

Even DH is cool with it now, he knows not to touch his food until after I take a picture! :worship:

:goodvibes This made me smile. In a similar vein my DH knows not to sit on the bed when we first walk into any hotel room ;)
