How Comfortable/Uncomfortable R U Taking Pictures of Food?

Both of the reports I have are food-centric. I am a shameless food porn photographer.

Go for it and don't worry about a thing!! I take pics of our food (and sometimes even my family members with their food ;) ) . At first I was a bit self-conscious but I do it all the time now and I love love love being able to look back at all of my pictures when we get home. I scrapbook all of our trips and there are many layouts dedicated to food!

i've always taken photos of our food and never once cared what anyone thought - figure i'll never see them again....

I took several last year, but haven't posted them. I plan to get pics of everything this year. Even V&A, but we're at the Chef's Table so we won't bother anyone. I am redoing my kitchen next Spring and would like to use some really good food pics on the walls as art. I think WDW food would be perfect.

I pretended to take a photo of my daughter, and then would just quickly aim it down at the plate so I could post photos in my trip report! No one ever seemed to care/notice.

we were at Kona last year and I was taking a picture of our food. I actually had someone come over to our table and ask if I was going to post it on the disboards! ha ha!! :goodvibes

What are the worst responses you have received from other guests?

Am I worried about nothing?
Ah, heck - I have no problem taking pictures of OTHER Guests' food! Okay, fine, I only did it once - I forgot to take a picture of my Surf & Turf at Narcoosee's before I started eating. One of the people at the next table ordered the same thing, so I figured 'what the heck? - and ASKED her if she minded. She didn't - at least, she said she didn't - and she wasn't even a DISer!

But no, I have no problem. I've had servers suggest the best setting (e.g. put a white napkin under a black plate on a dark table), and even offer to take a picture of me WITH the food. Oh, yeah - I travel alone.

With a group of six, I'd probably pass the camera to others in my party rather than get up and walk around the table to take pics
Oh! One meal last year, I met up with friends I hadn't seen in several years - coincidentally, not only would we all be there at the same time, but we all had Teppanyaki reservations that were cancelled due to the delayed reopening... so we ended up at Chefs de France. Before we could start eating, one took pictures of all six apps, all six entrees, and all six desserts - and yes, again coincidentally we all ordered different items for each course.

As long as you don't start asking your ribs to look sexy or your salad to pout, I don't think anyone will care.

I've gotten strange looks before when I take pics but who cares. It's my food. If anyone asks I'll say I'm taking pics for my mom b/c she's thinking about trying the restaurant.

We went to Disney last month, and I took a photo of every single thing we ate.....Snacks and all! Now that I have all the photos in the albums, the food pictures make them that much more enjoyable. When we went to a restaurant, I first took a photo of the place outside, then I took a picture of each person's plate. So, in our album, there's a picture of the Brown Derby from the outside, then a picture of our appetizer, then a picture of our steak, then a picture of the grapefruit cake. Makes me hungry every time I look at them! I just thought of myself as the "food-arazzi"! :lmao:

Who cares what others think of you. You're on vacation and having fun. I think it's a great idea - in fact-we too are a party of 6-and I think we'll add to it in september. i'm a picky eater and alot of the menus have turned me off by the description but when I actually seen some dishes-how quickly i changed my mind.:thumbsup2

I wouldn't even think twice about it! I'd just do it. I never dreamed it would be something embarrassing! I guess that shows I've got no class!:rotfl:

I need to start taking pictures of the restaurants from the outside.

The worst I ever got was being looked at by the next table over. I will say that in Mama Melrose, I didn't take flash pictures because it is a little dark, and I didn't want to disturb people. And honestly, in those dark places, the flash overexposes everything and you can't see anything.

I wasn't overly concerned about the food being untouched. My MIL thought the half-eaten and dirty plates were the best pictures! :) Sometimes I forgot to take a picture of something, but I got over it! (Except now I can't remember what I had for dessert at Mama Melrose....)

I plan to take pictures on our trip because I would like to help others out as I have been helped out here. Many of the places we are eating at is due to the great reviews here. Yes, DH thinks I'm nuts, but he loves me anyway . Actually, he's the photography nut in the family so I'm sure he'll get into it after a couple of meals. I've already warned MIL about taking pictures and she said she thought it was neat. I just hope they don't get tired of me wanting to take pics before anyone takes a bite.
