We are going the second week and I know the kids are going to want to some but is it even possible? I know the pools are heated. But I just can't fathom swimming outdoors in Dec.. :lmao: I am from the midwest you know.

We went the first week in Dec. a few years ago and I remember it being very hot. It was in the upper 80's and everybody was swimming.

You can never tell in December. I've been where it's been in the 40's and in the high 70's in the same week. I think kids will swim in any weather!

December in FL can be hit or miss. Some days its warm, some days cold. I can tell ya, that at night the pools do not seem heated enough, but my girls were crazy enough to go in. They almost died walking back to their room after they got out, but they made it. :lmao: I think during the day is much better just having the sun out to warm things up. The pools are heated but not like a hot tub if you know what I mean.

haha! I won't mind what the weather is! I live in Scotland so it makes no difference to me! = ]

We went Dec 13-20. We swam at night (almost every day) when we got back to the hotel. The pool was heated and empty - which was wonderful. However, it was quite chilly when we got out! Make sure you have a big towel very close! On the other hand, the hot tub was so full every night, we didn't dare try --.

We were there the first week of December last year and we had a couple of days in the 80's and few days in the 60's. It got down to 36 at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. So, I guess it's hit or miss.

Like a poster said above Dec can be a real hit or miss. I have seen it be 89 degrees in Dec., I have also seen it be 50 degress. I know last Christmas it was so hot here that I had to take my Christmas sweater off and put on a tank top! So really you never know. It does seem to me that we are having a mild summer. So it could be a sign that we are having a cool winter.

Like others have said you can never tell. We went for 10 days at the end of November a couple of years ago. Thebeginning of our trip it was hot and we were able to swim an go to TL. The last few days though were freezing and we were walking around in pants and fleece pullovers.

We went 1st week of Dec. 2002 (our Disneymoon) and it was FREEZING !! Rained the whole time :sad2: But the parks were empty :woohoo:

I hope the weather is cool when we go in December, but I don't think I'd like 40 degrees. That's too cold!
Is rain common in December, or is it generally a toss up, like the temps?

Lol! You wil probobly see me in the pool at 40 degrees = ]

I would say that no rain is not that common in the winter, I mean sure there is a chance of rain but not like it is in the summer where it rains almost everyday.

This is a great question, and thanks to all of you for your responses. We're going at the end of December for New Year's, and we were kind of hoping that at least one of the days will be warm enough for us to maybe check out Blizzard Beach. We know that might idealistic thinking though! :tiptoe:

A little over 2.5 inches of rain average for the month of December.. so your odds are good

That's good to hear. I can deal with cold a lot better than rain! I find it so odd that it would rain more in the summer than winter. Must have to do with all that humidity in summer.

We're from Hawaii, so anything under 60 degrees is seriously cold! On our honeymoon we traveled to San Francisco, I have never been so cold in my life. I dressed head to toe in full winter gear every day, we're talking thermal underwear, scarf, coat, hat and gloves. We were on the cable cars one day and this little girl kept staring at me. I overheard her asking her mother why I was dressed that way. Her whole family was dressed in shorts and tshirts... . Her mom whispered to her to stop staring, that maybe the woman was sick! :lmao:
If you see a crazy woman sitting by the pool in full winter gear, be sure to wave. I'll know it's the crazy girl from Scotland!

We were at WDW last year for thanksgiving, and the first few days were ok for swimming and that was it. I ended up buying a winter coat while I was there, and I do not think I have ever seen so many disney sweatshirts on people in one place! I think everyone was caught by surprise how cool it was.
One night we even saw flurries in central florida while watching the weather. And it was not Disney flurries!!:sad2:
