How cold are the fridges?

Will they keep beverages cold? I seem to remember not, but figured I would check with any recent cruisers.

Thanks!
Karen

They are not very chilly.

If you already have pre-chilled drinks, it can keep them chilled. But if you place unchilled drinks in there, it will take several days to chill them.

If I had to guess, I would say the temperature in these things is about 45 degrees (compared to REAL refrigerator that should be about 35).

I think I have seen these referred to as coolers, not fridges. Bizarre contraptions, regardless.

Yes, I concur it took several days to cool down drinks we carried on for our 1st DCL cruise (DS's favorite juice boxes or sports drinks at the time). 2nd DCL cruise travelled w/ a cooler in the car, had the drinks iced, then dumped the water in the parking lot and had a very heavy carry on of chilled drinks. Worked much better, but found we didnt get through nearly all of the drinks because of the options on board, but to each his or her own on that note.

So if you want 'em available cold in the stateroom, bring chilled drinks on-board.

I have read that if you keep the cabinet door open (the fridge is in a cabinet) the fridge cools much better..... but then of course you have this door open and in your way.

We are bringing a soft sided cooler in hopes our cabin steward will keep it filled with ice and it chills my Diet Pepsi quickly!

THe last day of our last Disney Cruise we discovered that there are controls to the fridge. Once the door to the fridge is open they are located on the top. Turn down the temp and get your drinks COLD!!!

not very cool at all. We brought wine and beer onboard and we had to have our ice bucket constantly filled to chill the beer as DH loves it ICE cold!

I didn't have any trouble with mine, but I also fixed the temp when I got to the cabin. Had nice, chilly drinks for the entire week!

No problem with ours. Adjust the knob and you can get your drinks pretty cold. Don't forget to request ice from your stateroom host so that you always have a supply to make for an even colder drink! Just make sure you do not overload the fridge/cooler.

Here is what worked for us: we packed Ziploc freezer bags. Our stateroom host refreshed our ice each day, and we kept the ice in a freezer bag in the 'refrigerator'.

We kept beer, wine, water bottles, and sodas in the fridge - and stored extras in the cabinets. When we replenished, it didn't take long to cool those at room temperature.

We did the same...and we told the room steward on the first day to give us ice twice a day....:boat:

no prob. with ours (and we stored meds that had to be at a constant temp). check to see what the setting on it is at when you arrive, many times it can go much lower. just don't go too low (we have had semi frozen milk as a result).
