How close are the Sequoia Lodge and the NY Hotel? We have to switch... twice.

The day finally came that I could book our Disneyland Paris trip through the Disney Vacation Club. Our dates were not flexible since this is part of a big European vacation and everything has already been planned this was the last piece of the puzzle. So imagine my surprise when I find out ONE day is not available at the Sequoia Lodge during my dates, so we don't have a choice, we booked it so we need to switch to the NY hotel at one point... then switch back to the Sequoia. I honestly don't even care, I'm just glad it's booked. But now I am wondering well how are we getting from the Sequoia to the NY Hotel when it's time to switch? I know some of the hotels are close but I don't know if all of them are.

Oh no! how annoying. They're really close though so don't worry. It depends on whether you're staying in the main building of the Sequoia as to exactly how long it will take but from the Main entrance of one to the other it's only a few minutes walk. It's probably the easiest to move to from the Sequoia and it's also on the walk way to the parks from the Sequoia so if you move across in the morning enroute to the parks you're not even going back on yourself! :) Hope that helps!

As already said the hotels are only a few minutes apart and you pass New York on the way to the parks however it might be worth mentioning this at reception at SL when you check in as they may allow you to leave most of your luggage in left luggage over night so you don't need to take it all with you or may even be able to juggle rooms round so you don't have to move.
Did you say you have booked the rooms through DVC? I wonder if thats why as it seems odd that there isn't a room left for one particular night - maybe they reserve certain rooms for these bookings. I know a lot of people have said that its not worth using points for DLP as you still need to buy your tickets on top of the booking whereas with a normal booking they are included so have you checked out the cost without using the points?
When are you going?

As the others have said, Sequoia and Hotel New York are very close together. On my last trip we were staying in one of the lodges at Sequoia , not in the main building and we had booked a meal at Hotel New York. It took us about 15 minutes from leaving our room to arriving at the Manhattan Restaurant in Hotel New York.

Hotel New York is also closer to Disney Village and the park entrances

As you have booked through DVC I would advise actually contacting the Sequoia Hotel direct. The hotel only gets guests information 1 week before you arrive though, so you will have to wait awhile before contacting them. Explain the situation and they may be able to help you

If you really do need to move, I'd ask the hotel concierge to transfer the luggage for you. We moved on our last day from Hotel New York to an off site hotel, Dream Castle, and the hotel concierge transferred the luggage free of charge for us. I was very surprised at this because it wasn't another Disney hotel. Excellent service.

It might even be fun! I know it is a bit of a bind to have to pack up each time but as others have said, the hotels are very close and you will have the chance to explore a different hotel. Try and have your breakfast at the HNY in the Manhattan restaurant rather than the Parkside Diner. The diner is first along the corridor and you will probably be directed there but if you say you would prefer the Manhattan it is a much nicer experience, especially as it will be your only breakfast there.

We had our longest ever trip to DLP as a two-base stay (Adagio for three nights then Sequoia Lodge for four) and it felt like two holidays!

Good luck if you do manage to sort it so you don't have to move though, obviously the best solution and I would have thought to some extent better for Disney too in terms of housekeeping and good customer relations. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info guys!! I really don't mind switching. Especially now that I know they are close. And yes, I priced it out it was VERY worth it to us to use our DVC points for the booking. We are going to buy an annual pass on the day we arrive because I priced that out too and it was a way better price compared to regular tickets.
