I am trying to put a trip together for Dec 26 thru Jan 3 and amd looking at my hotel options. I thought about the Disney Sports All-Star resort, but was wondering something.

I was on the dreams unlimted board and saw 7 hotels that they say "Located on property at the Walt Disney World ® Resort, the seven hotels of the Downtown Disney Resort area offer something for every visitor, and every budget. Just a short walk from all the fun and excitement of the Downtown Disney Marketplace, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney West Side, there's no limit to the fun your family will experience at these fantastic resorts. Here is a list of them.

Courtyard by Marriott
Hilton Resort -
Hotel Royal Plaza -
Doubletree Guest Suites -
Best Western Lake Buena Vista -
Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa -
Grosvenor Resort -

I am looking for something close to Disney World (MK, AK, epcot).

Thanks,

Jason

They are not within walking distance to any park. I believe a couple are within walking distance to Disney Marketplace. They do have bus service to and from the parks. They are not Disney resorts; thus, no Disney perks such as early entry, charging to your room, etc. They are the closest non-Disney hotels to WDW excluding the Swan and Dolphin (non-Disney resorts but in the World).

Many years ago, I stayed at the Royal Plaza which was nice but I missed the Disney feel ansd the convenience of being in the World and the ability to move around via Disney transport.

The Hilton and Wyndham are right across the street from the Marketplace. The ones at the far end of Resort Plaza Blvd are a LONG way from much of anmything except Crossroads Plaza.

at the Grosvenor. We walked to Downtown Disney many times, including the first evening we arrived for dinner. It is an easy walk. You can also buy your tickets, as well as length of stay passes at these resorts, but they do not have any charging privledges on the tickets. It was fine for a last-minute cheap trip, but definitely does not have the "magic" of staying on-site

I have a ressie at BW LBV for may 7-13. I have never stayed there but heard it is a 10 minute walk to downtown disney. I am calling next week to try to change to POR because I would prefer to stay on a disney resort.

Even the farthest one (the Doubletree) is only about a 10 minute walk from DD; no problem for someone in good health.

The claim to being "onsite" is legit, and not only geographically. The landscaping along Hotel Plaza Blvd is very nice and it's nothing at all like being off-site.

You need transportation to get to the parks of course, but that's true of many Disney resorts also. You should think twice about staying at a DD hotel without a car.
