How clean are the villas when you first check it?

Yes, I am very obsessive. Wish I wasn't but I am. Since this is our first time, how clean are the villas? For those of you out there like me, will I be scrubbing away our first day?

I know there have been problems with cleanliness at check-in at some of the resorts but I have stayed several times at 3 different DVC resorts and have never had a problem. We have had to call and get small things repaired. But maintainence always comes quickly to take care of the problem. Don't worry, just go and enjoy.

No significant problems here either. From reading these boards sometimes, though, it does seem like a lot of folks have an expectation that checking into a hotel room should be like moving into a newly-constructed home, though.

I agree bicker, maybe my expectations are lower but I have never had a problem with a villa not being cleaned.

Most of my friends and I have never had a problem but then again I've been known not to dust for a couple of weeks (LOL). I do have one friend though who is a neat freak to the nth degree. I made cookies in her kitchen once (never again) and everytime I put something down on the counter, it was picked up and put in the sink and the counter wiped off (never mind that I just put it down for a minute). I got a studio for her for the night we were going to the Party of the Senses. Other friends went over before they arrived and rewashed the bathroom floor, wiped everything over and she STILL had a problem with the cleanliness. So if you are that compulsive, you may be scrubbing.

I have never had a problem with cleanliness of the villas. The only thing I have had is when staying in a studio, not having enough towels for 4 people. I had to call mousekeeping and they brought use more towels. That is the only thing I have had to do?

Ours have always been very clean. If you are like my Mom though-you will likely clean a couple strategic surfaces anyway-just like any other Hotel stay.

absolutely gorgeous photos!!! sigh...wish I was there..... so who cares if I have to dust a little??!!

I think the only thing extra I've done is to run some detergent through the jacuzzi. Otherwise, I've been very happy. The worst I've had to deal with was finding a candy wrapper hidden behind a table leg and I probably wouldn't have ever noticed that if I hadn't been sleeping on the sofa bed.

Except for one stay at BCV I have been happy with everywhere I have stayed. I do bring some Clorox cleanups just in case there is mold in the shower stalls--but that is just trying to stay one step ahead of the game. I figure if I call and wait and return and call and wait when I could spruce it up myself in like three minutes why stress.

Not many issues here either. I too clean the Jacuzzi.

Mind if I ask how you clean the jacuzzi? Do you run the jets thru to "clean them out"? :confused3

I'd figure you'd want to use bleach.

I envision them more like a CSI team, complete with rubber gloves, swabs and UV lights....

We've had four DVC trips totaling 6 check-ins (4SSR, 1OKW, 1VWL) and never experienced one problem. The worst: once, someone put a used-but-unwashed glass (OJ, I think) back on the shelf - not a vacation-ruining catastrophe....

We've stayed at OKW, VB, & HHI. We've only had one occasion where the room was not clean. I notified housekeeping, and they came back and cleaned the room.

I take Clorox wipes just in case.

Good luck!

Never had a problem, but then, I'm not an obsessive cleaner.

I have been a member since 2001 and LOVE MY DVC!!!! On our last visit in March we did have a problem with the room not being clean at OKW. The last guests disposables were not thrown out and their food was still in the cabinets and refrig. There was (No. 2) that did not belong to any of my kids on the side of the toilet. I called and housekeeping did come to clean it up. But then the toilet overflowed on our last day there and this was not taken care of the way it should be. They did not even bring in a mop!! I have put in complaints with member services and still have not heard back. Very disappointing. Just remember to bring your clorex wipes and give the bathroom a once over. The key is to relax and not let a little dirt ruin your great vacation. I love OKW and I am just coughing this one up to a bad housekeeper. Have a great trip!!!

So far we have had no problems at all. Except last time at OKW we did not have a corkscrew. Called and got one. Got to have a corkscrew.

I ran into this last week at OKW. Checked in with 3 friends on Thursday in a studio. We had 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels and only 2 wash cloths! There was a small towel animal on the table, don't know if that counted as a wash cloth. Called when we arrived at around 12:30, came back in the evening, no extra wash cloths. They said we were only entitled to 2 hand towels. We dismantled the towel animal for #3 wash cloth. Called in the morning before we left, returned in the late afternoon, no towels. We called housekeeping, no answer. Called the front desk, they transferred us to housekeeping, of course no answer. So my friend called the front desk and got nasty, they finally ended up bringing 5 bath towels & 5 wash cloths, more than we asked for. All we wanted was a wash cloth for each person.

I always fill the tub with hot water and throw in a dishwasher tablet and run the jets and then rinse out the tub. Susan
