a thread to rent points that can only be used for exchange?

(I have a cruise I have to cancel).. the points have to be used by the end of May 2009?

The title should be "Points for Rent" and then be sure to mention that the points cannot be used at DVC resorts - only for the non-DVC options. They cannot be used for the World Passport Collection.

They cannot be used for World Passport Collection? I thought that is where you could use them.. and the cruise... just not DVC... am I wrong?

Points from a cancelled cruise are in "Reservation Status" and can only be used for another reservation which does not involve a DVC resort. World Passport reservations do involve an exchange of a DVC reservation, so these points cannot be used for that option. You may use those points for any of the Disney Collection, Concierge Collection or Adventure Collection options.

The points have already been committed to CRO to use for cash reservations - thus the reason they can no longer be used at DVC resorts or used as an II exchange.

Is it worth even trying to rent it and what would be the going rate since it has these many restrictions?

The points may be used for stays at any of the moderate and deluxe resorts at WDW, at DL, for any of the Concierge Collection resorts in addition to the cruise - anything except World Passport or DVC resorts.

You'll have to decide if renting is worth it. Don't forget about the $95 fee for each reservation you make using those points. I would suggest being very cautious about making a rental reservation without at least a deposit in advance since you'd lose the $95 if the renter cancelled or failed to send payment.
