How can you even use the studio microwave?

I bring "disposable" glad/ziplock containers that can be put in the microwave. I use them for cereal, for packing PB&Js for my DD (she's a very picky eater) and to re-heat leftovers.

They are afraid to use straws at AK. Aren't they afraid of styrofoam cups
and paper plates being left on AKL balconies and the wind carrying them off the balconies into the savannah for the animals to graze upon? It will be like watching a windy baseball game with paper and cups flying around.:rolleyes1

Disney only believes in "Environmentality" when it's convenient for them. :sad1:

I've used the paper bowls and plates in the microwave - no big deal. Not so sure about styrofoam. I have heard styrofoam shouldn't be microwaved for some reason.

The last studio I stayed in there was half a bagel left in the microwave and I don't know how I'm going to wash another microwave out if they don't give me any soap.

They have straws now! Paper ones. They hold up pretty good in a rum runner.

I used paper plates to heat up chef boy r dee but I had to use a second plate to put on top so it wouldn't spray the microwave with sauce. I felt pretty cheap because they only gave me 4 plates to start and I had to use 2 at once.

Good to know....I have never seen paper dishes....glad they hold up.

I will certainly need more than 4.....the poor mousekeeper will need a cart just to go to my room for extra....blankets, towels, toilet paper, and now
plates, "plastic wear" and my MUGS.

Okay, I'm a little confused. We'll be going to SSR in late June and we're in a two BR villa. It sounds like we won't have glasses or mugs, just throw aways, but are you saying we won't have any sort of dishes either? No bowls, plates, silverware, or cooking utensils? Pots? Pans? ????? Dish detergent? I'm so confused. I can deal with the mug, glasses ordeal. I'll just take a couple cheap ones from home and chuck them when we leave, I can't stand my tea in plastic or styrofoam, but what about the other items??? Some info, please. Thanks

these changes only affect DVC studios at this time.

Correct, this change is only in studio accomodations. The 1 and 2 bedrooms with kitchens are not affected at this point, and as of today, have plates, cups, dishes, cookware.

Of course we'll see what happens when the DVC brain trust decides to change things up again at some point in the future...

Well, wait a minute...
If you get rid of the dishes/glassware;
So then you get rid of the microwave you can't use;
And then the fridge, since you can't cook and you don't have plates or flatware (after you've used the few that came with the unit)...

Aren't you left with a basic hotel room with really poor housekeeping service?

Would you please stop being reasonable and sensible??!!! That kind of behaviour belongs on the Transportation Board, Missy! ;)

Well, here is an excellent suggestion

And one thing I learned in the army is that when you are presented with inadequate supplies, just improvise. Any thick paper or cardboard can be fashioned into a drinking cup. An empty paper towel or toilet paper roll would do the trick. Hand soap or shampoo works as an excellent cleaning solution and a clean sock can be fashioned into a sponge. I'm sure between the items in your suitcase and what few supplies are still available in the DVC studios, you should be able to clean the coffee pot and your refillable mugs too. ;) :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

Just take off those shoes and socks - use the sock to clean out the used cup from earlier today (the sweat should provide enough moisture to wipe out any residue) and use your shoe to hold your leftovers while you microwave them!

Problem solved

This past February we were at a 1BR at AKV and my DH accidently left the newspaper on the balcony only to have it fly down in the savannah, we called the front desk to have the papers removed but they were slow in coming (if they came at all) but the point of styrofoam cups flying from balconies is a very good one!!! Maybe they don't care about the animals as much as they say they do!:mad: :mad: :mad:

So, to confirm, an SSR Studio has a mircrowave, coffeepot, and fridge with plastic utensils (cups and bowls and eating utensils), only?
