How can we see the other resorts?

If all goes well, we will be the proud new owners at OKW around the first of May. We will 237 points that have to be burned by the end of May due to some banking and borrowing and a June use year. We are real flexible and will try to get room(s) for a vacation in May, even if it involves changing resorts (and we don't care which resorts we end up in).

But, since are new members, we really want to take one day and visit the other DVC properties at WDW (we may try to stop going or coming at HHI for a night or two) that we haven't seen before or are not staying at. If we go visit, would we be able to see a room? We will want to check out the pool, the amenities, the restaurants, etc. and the rooms if we can. Any idea's on how to do this? Or the best way?

I would make arrangements before you go. You may not know if you have a guide, but call the 800 # and find out. They will be able to "open doors" for you.

Just go the front desk at BWV and VWL, identify yourself as a new DVC member and ask if it would be possible to see a room. I'd suggest going after 11:00am and before 2:00pm, as that's when recently vacated rooms might be prepared for the next guest.

The staff is usually quite accommodating, when possible and if there are rooms not occupied by guests. You can see the model of the BCV rooms at the sales center on the Boardwalk.

You are always welcome to explore the public areas of all resorts and won't need special advance arrangements to do so.

If you don't want to spend your entire trip viewing rooms, bear in mind that with the exception of OKW, all the other DVC Resorts (BWV, WLV and BCV) have the same room plans. The decor changes, the layout and theming of the Resorts change, but the room layouts don't.

If you were to visit the DVC sales office on the Boardwalk and see the rooms there, you need only visit the Resorts to check out the theming and facilities, and not the rooms at WLV and BCV.

Andew makes a great point. At the BWV sales center they have rooms that reflect the theming and decor of the BCV, and WLV resorts. They used to have BWV, but that may not be there now. That way you could see the inside of a room and compare them right beside each other, there are some subtle differences, like the new table set up in the BCV. Then you could enjoy lunch/dinner at each of the resorts during your stay. If you call ahead, you could also use your pool hopping priveledges and go for a swim in the resort pools. Enjoy your stay.

This is a great idea of how to spend the day after getting off the Disney Cruise boat before flying home at 6pm.
We became DVC members in Nov and have yet to come "home". Id love to see our new home VWL before Oct 2003. This year we are using our points to cruise the Disney Magic.

Great Suggestions!! We will definately head to the Boardwalk in the morning, check out all the different rooms there and BWV facilities. Then hop over to WLV for a meal and go swimming! We'll make a day of it. (we love looking at the resorts anyway).

VWL looks very different in the model at BWV than it does at its location - so may sure you see both - VWL is beautiful but it does not look right in the BWV model.

They did have a room open at WLV for viewing but I suspect they've now stopped that with the closing of sales to all but members add ons.
