:( I,ve heard from a friend about someone they know who got back from Florida early this month who was supposed to be sailing on Disney cruise (not sure which ship). When they arrived at resort (they had a week in Disney first) they were told their ship wasnt sailing! How can this happen? why were they not told sooner, they flew from England and were extremley dissapointed.
If the ship was having a refit surely the cruise line should not have taken the booking. Does anyone know anything????

The only time I can recall (since last year's Norwalk thing) that either ship hasn't sailed is when the Magic was in dry dock for two weeks. Disney would not have booked anyone on the Magic during that time that it was scheduled to be in dry dock. Very odd story.

The only cruise DCL has cancelled has been the 11/30/03 Eastern Magic sailing due to the Norwalk Virus. We were booked on that cruise and found out on Wednesday that we would not be sailing on Saturday. DCL did everything they could to acommodate us at WDW and rebook our cruise.

While we were certainly disappointed that the cruise was cancelled we certainly did not blame DCL. They did what they had to do to eradicate a nasty, pervasive virus from their ship and treated us fairly in the process.

As a previous poster said, the Magic was in drydock for two weeks in September/October of this year. DCL did not take any booking for these two weeks so there were no cruises cancelled.

I'm pretty sure Michele means the 11/30/02 sailing, one year ago.

There have not been any cancelled sailing dates this year... only the scheduled drydock as others have described.

Yes, thank you Kathy. I did mean the 11/30/02 cruise! Sorry for any confusion.

LOL

my friend's cousin's mom's boyfriend
It was actually my friend's cousin's mom's ex-boyfriend's former girlfirends third husbands ex-mother in law.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

OMG....this thread is tooooo funny.

That's how "stuff" gets started. I work for the fire department and we had a Haunted House this year for Halloween. It was
really scary....firemen are scary anyway.....lol Well, I was taking my dd and her df and they didn't want to go...I said why...they
said...well, so and so told us that somebody's grandmother went to the HH and had a heart attack and died. I said who told you that...they said oh so and so...I said was she there when it happened?? They said no...but she knew somebody that was there when it happened and she told somebody and she told and she told and she told.....all it was was some kid running out of the HH screaming because she/he was so scared!!!!!!

I did hear on the news a while back that another cruise line had to cancel a/some cruises due to the dreaded virus...but I don't remember which one. And I heard that myself...with my own two ears...sitting in my kitchen...watching my own TV...nobody told me!!!!

Fun thread........

What she heard is true. I met that couple at All Star Sports, as they were trying to book a room. They flew over from England for a 7 day cruise on the Magic. They came without any DOCS--their travel agent told them they'd receive them at WDW. She never mentioned Magic was in drydock!!! They made final payment to Disney, which they accepted. DCL even called them to get their passport numbers. The Tuesday they were to have DOCS delivered was when they found out Magic wasn't sailing. DCL offered them a 4 day cruise--I don't know if they took it. My advice to them was to call DCL, and have them put them up at GF to at least give them a nice place to stay. They had booked several verandah cabins. I really felt sorry for them.

I'm guessing they got the dates of their cruise wrong or they thought they were booked on the Magic but were really booked on the Wonder.

As always a good reminder to use a reputable travel agent and double check all dates and credit card charges.

I'm guessing they got the dates of their cruise wrong

Given that these people were from England, it is quite possible that the confusion was over the date format since they do their dates in reverse of us (eg: Sept. 11 is 9/11 for us and 11/9 for them). Obviously not all of it was messed up bc their flts. etc... were correct since they managed to get from the UK to the US, although from this I met that couple at All Star Sports, as they were trying to book a room I wonder if all of their Disney reservations were done improperly or if they were trying to book those rooms instead of the cruise.

This is starting to sound like one the hoax stories that fly around the internet!

I find it impossible to believe that DCL would have taken final payment (or even an initial deposit for that matter) for a cruise that didn't exist. I find it very possible to believe that they had a somewhat questionable TA who took their money or, they were REALLY confused about the dates.

This is one of those that will be impossible to completely figure out without knowing the facts.

Can happen to us Americans too...
Last month my dh's partner called the office. He couldn't be on call the next day b/c he was on a cruise and (dh was told) "there were problems docking this ship at the port for some reason." So everyone in the office scrambled, patients were called, dh covered this doc's call....

turned out, the doc thought he was taking a SEVEN day cruise, but actually it was an EIGHT day cruise. So there was no problem docking, only a problem knowing WHEN he was supposed to dock! :hyper:
