Do you mean the hurricanes?
Our bell hop at AKL said he expected more hurricanes this year. His family are farmers in Florida, so maybe knows :confused3

I have read somewhere, that its all to do with the high pressure ridge called bermuda high and this forced the hurricanes towards florida. this high pressure ridge is still out there and unless it breaks up in the next few months the next hurricane season could be tense, but unlikely to be as bad as last year.

Well, we're going in September and we''ll take our chance. Hope it isn't as bad for the poor locals though.

I think the rumours of more hurricanes are being spread by someone going to WDW in August and who wants smaller crowds :)

Well, I'm going in August.......

They were still raging at the end of September werent they ?

There will always be the possibility of a hurricane hitting florida. There are a number of tropical storms and also hurricanes each year and the experts are usually quite good at predicting them. Last year was exceptional that 3 hurricanes hit land as in previous years hurricanes have skipped by the coast. Hurricane season starts in May and goes to the end of October. I think usually Florida is most at risk from hurricanes from about september although tropical storms do hit earlier in the season sometimes. Last year was exceptional that Florida got hit 3 times (by hurricanes) and I guess even more unlucky that all 3 affected Orlando. That said the parks closed for about 1 and a half days in total if I remember right so things do return to normal quickly. If you want the expert view on hurricanes and storms check out orlandosentinel.com and click the weather tab. This site has great weather info and even has a storm tracker which plots the past storms if you want to see where they come from and where they ended up.
