How can I tell If this is a scam or Not?

thanks everyone. from now on yes I will only be dealing locally. I don't need this drama anymore. What a mess! And yes I usually do talk with potential owners before hand and I have a contract. I have 2 females and 1 male. I am NOT a kitten mill. I breed only a few times per year.

Right!!! I'm sitting here in my house of 4 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats.....I would never, could never...send a baby off sight unseen to a stranger who sent me money. Money doesn't equal love or care. I also would never buy an animal from a breeder that would ship an animal somewhere sight unseen....that would scream puppy mill to me.

Totally agree!!!!! :thumbsup2 Before I was able to get my rescue labs the lady came out to "tour" my house and yard to make sure it was fenced and I had to have three reference letters, I would be the same way.

No, you are a backyard breeder. Unless of course your cats are show cats. Which they can't be if you are overbreeding them as you are (a few times a YEAR???).

Please find more ethical ways to make money. 2 million cats are put down every year because of backyard breeders and irresponsible owners.

At the risk of being slammed I have to say that you seem more worried about the money then the kitten. Have you checked out this person to see if he would even be a good home for the kitten? If it were me, he would have to prove he would be a good, loving home before the money came into play.

I've been involved in rescue for over 10 years. The fact that anyone pays $800 for an animal does not mean they will take care of it. We get purebred dogs and cats that have been abandoned (and many abused also) all of the time.

:worship: :worship::worship: I die a little every-time I have to leave mine with a pet sitter. I couldn't agree more with you.

Couldn't agree more.

I have a pure bread Maine Coon who had ended up as a rescue cat by the time I adopted him. They are quite a demanding and noisy breed but people buy them as fluffy little designer kittens then get rid of them when they turn out to require effort. I love my guy to bits but I could never buy from a breeder when there are already so many animals needing homes. And that's not even mentioning the poor mum you are breeding them from :(

Aside from the fact I volunteer at an animal shelter, any puppy or kitten that was transported in a plane would be scared to death. I take care of the dogs and we've had Japanese Chins, and every other kind of fancy dog you can think of that ended up homeless and was fortunate enough to end up with us.

Why is anyone still breeding cats and dogs? Rescue and adoption........there are more than enough cats, kittens, puppies and dogs sitting in cages in animal shelters (if they are lucky it is a no kill) around the United States. Please have compassion for these animals, they deserve a warm home, food each day and unconditional love!

.....
A "LT" in the Navy is an O3. an "LT" in all other services is an O1 or O2. Basically bottom three of officer corps. They are usually the "secretaries" for commanding officers. LoL.

I can tell you've never served. A junior officer does NOT serve as a secretary for a commanding officer. :rolleyes2

Of course you should not breed cats and dogs indiscriminantely. However, there are responsible breeders who breed their animals to improve and maintain the breed.

Just my 2 cents. Do not sell or agree to accept money for ANY unborn kitten! Speak to and reference check all potential owners. Advise the potential owner you will contact him/her when you have a kitten available. Once the kitten is 8 weeks old, contact potential owners and perhaps consider taking a small refundable deposit. Have prospective owner pick up the kitten in person at 12 weeks. Avoid shipping.

I totally agree.

I can't believe people still pay money to buy kittens. With all the kittens/cats that are pts daily, why would you buy one? I have rescue cats including Maine Coons that I found starving to death. It is awful to get money for an innocent animal at the expense of another innocent animal. :headache:

*sigh* Yes, you get a hearty pat on the back for rescuing cats, but there is nothing wrong with paying for a pure bred animal. I have a Standard Poodle and 2 Japanese Bobtail cats, all of which I purchased from breeders.

OP since you are a new breeder, I would suggest before you sell a kitten to someone - ask them for the name of their vet as a reference.

This thread had died back at the end of September - not sure why it had to be resurrected yesterday, just to scold the OP more than they already had been?

Oh, I think you know why. People on these boards can't pass up an opportunity to chide someone publicly.

In your opinion - not everyone agrees.

That's not the point. The point is that great cats can be found that NEED to be saved without buying them.

Somebody spammed the thread with some type of prohibited advertising. That automatically brings the thread back to page one.

Nobody reactivated it to attack the OP. That's just the result.
