So by my calcualtions, to add my voucher to my 7 day pass, I would only save $3, bringing it to an 8 day pass.... worthwhile, not so much.

I know I have to book at least a single day ticket with my resort stay (for dining anyways).

Can I do this?

Book the 7 day resort stay - with a 1 day park ticket.

When I get there, upgrade my 1 day ticket to a 2 day ticket with my GAD voucher.... which will still get me a $78 value.
Then upgrade the 2 day ticket, by paying the difference to bring it back up to a 7 day ticket?

Did that make sense.... is it possible? Or is my only real option the Fastpass :)

I don't believe that it's possible to combine your 1-day ticket and the GAD voucher into a 2-day ticket. What you could do, from what I hear, is redeem the GAD voucher for fastpasses (like the birthday promo from last year.)

You cannot "add" your GAD day to an existing ticket - but you can turn it in at the window for a 1 day pass and then, once inside, upgrade to an 8 day pass...they will give you $79 credit toward your 8 day pass...so, you will save more than the $3 difference between a 7 day and an 8 day pass.
I personally am going for quality over quantity and f=getting the FP exchange card so I will have less wait time while in the park!

Also, if you are getting a package, you cannot add your GAD to it, but yes,oy ucan just get a 1 day pass....you would then keep that pass for your next visit (put it somewhere safe!!) - it doesn't start to expire until the first use. Then you csan go ahead and uopgrade your GAD ticket to whatever length you want, saving $79 - the value of a1 day pass. By dong it this way, you will get the benefit of the package you booked, plus the discvount from the GAD AND hav ea ticket for the future.
Or, of course, go for the awesome FP!!

You have to use you GAD ticket when you redeem it, the same day. You can not save it for another day.

Sorry, ur right, I said it confusingly, lol...what I meant was that yo could get a package with a 1 day ticket attached to it and save THAT one for future use, then get your 1 day ticket with your GAD voucher and upgrade that in the park for whatever you wanted, thereby getting the $79 credit.

Scenario 1: I called up WDW when making my reservation, and asked if I could put the GAD ticket towards it, they told me I could upgrade the 7 day ticket (add the GAD ticket) to 8 days.

Scenario 2: By that same theory, I would like to only purchase a 1 day ticket with my resort reservation, and upgrade that to a 2 day ticket (that is a $78 value).

Then take my 2 day ticket - and upgrade that to the 7 or 8 day.

How is Scenario 1 different then Scenario 2 (except for the fact in #2 I actually get a day, in #1 I get a $3 value)?

I have a feeling the CM you spoke to was misguided.
All the info I have read so far has said that you cannot upgrade an existing ticket. If you have a multiday pass, you can opt for the FP or the Figurine.
You would certainly not want to add a day onto a 7 day pass - that would not be a good value anyway.
You CAN get your 1 day pass for the voucher and upgrade that to whatever you want, but you cannot take an existing pass and have the voucher added to it...
Someone correct me if this is wrong, but everything I've seen so far has said this.

What I've seen on here as the "best" thing to do is just get a one day ticket on your package. Then, when you get there, cash in your GAD voucher and upgrade that to your 7 or 8 day pass, thereby getting the full $79 value. Take your 1 day ticket that comes with your package and SAVE it. That will never expire (the GAD voucher will expire in Dec.). Then use it on your next trip and upgrade that to however many days you need, getting full value of a one day ticket at whatever time you go. Have a great trip!

well put! That's what I was trying to say in my first post!

Scenario 1 is, as you know from the knowledgeable responses on this thread (and you can read the Everything About WDW Tickets FAQ on the Theme Parks Advice forum to double-check) not possible.

Scenario 2 is also not possible. You can't combine the redeemed voucher ticket (or any ticket) with an existing ticket of any number of days, toward any other ticket purchase. It's one-for-one only. You would have one one-day ticket from the voucher, and one one-day ticket from the package. Since you can't combine these, you also can't upgrade the combined (because it can't be) ticket to a multi-day ticket.

Your options, therefore, are (1) a package with a multi-day ticket plus the one-day, valued-at-$79, voucher-redeemed ticket; (2) a package with however many days park admission you need, then redeem the voucher for the FastPass; (3) a package with however many days park admission you need, then redeem the voucher for figurine; (4) a package with however many days park admission you need, then donate the ticket as per the conditions of the promotion; (5) forget about the package, book a room-only reservation, redeem the voucher for a one-day park ticket, enter the park, go to Guest Services, and upgrade the one-day ticket to the number of days admission you want/need.
