How can I get a grease stain out of a shirt?

Ok, I know someone here will be able to help me. A few weeks ago, we were having dinner, and something splattered on my shirt. Of course its one of my favorites...perfect for spring, 3/4 length sleeve, somewhat casual, but anyway. I went and used a tide stick thing..dropped spots of tide in, then that toothbrush looking thing...washed it, and the spots are still there. Any suggestions? Help!

Murphy's Oil Soap or maybe Dawn dish detergent.

dish soap....Dawn, Joy, what ever you have. I use it on DS's messy clothes all the time. Takes just about anything out but works really well on grease and tomato based stains.

It does work. Got Shrimp Scampi spot out of shirt I had washed and dried several times.

Have you tried Lighter Fluid? Sounds strange--but works, I promise.

I used lemon juice to get butter out of a good shirt.

That's exactly what I'd do but use the Zout with the Oxy Stain Lifting formula. There is a plain Zout & the one with the Oxy Stain Lifting formula. Use a soft bristled brush. If you already dried the skirt in the dryer, don't bother ~ it's there forever. Zout has so far worked on everything I've tried it on! It's just a bit over $2 at Wal-mart too. Not very expensive for the great job it does.

If you ran it through the dryer, you may be sunk.


Goo Gone works sometimes. Lighter fluid and gasoline are frowned upon, but sometimes work, too.

My DH is an auto tech and that means oil, car grease, etc. and I use Zout (can be found in the laundry Ilse). I spry it on heavy, let the shirt sit overnight and wash regular, always gets the spots out.


Also I have never had a problem if I missed the spot and washed and dryed first. Zout has gotten out some very old, very set in stains.
