? How can I do WDW under 1 grand for 3

Another thought in terms of souvenirs. I purchased kids shirts at the disney Store before we left home when they had a sale for something like $7.99 each when you buy 2 or more. You could stick it in your backpack and pull it out when your DD started the "I want that" routine. THey also have sales on their toys and stufff. Buy your light chaser (light up toy for the parades) BEFORE you go. Believe me, your kid will want one at the parade. Or you could buy those glo stick necklaces at the dollar store before you leave. Pull those out during the parade. My girls were happy with those and they are older. The dollar store often has Disney Gummi Bear packs and things. I bought these ahead of time too.

Plus, when you buy the stuff ahead of time, it can come out of your 'regular' budget, and not your vacation budget.

Have you ever seen the TV show on the Food Network called "$40 A Day", with Rachel Ray. Well she has some pretty good meals on just $40 for the whole day. We have often had some of our best Disney meals at the less expensive restaurants. Also the meal vouchers from Connections are a great deal. We have 5 in our family, for lunch we'll use 3 quick and casual vouchers and everyone is happy.

I think it can be done, as a matter of fact DH and I just came to the realization that we will after all be able to go to WDW during the Mardi Gras holiday so I've got 7 weeks to plan a trip on a tight budget. The good thing is DH, DS, and I already have AP's and my 2 DD's have a day left on their hoppers.

Good luck to you! I love the planning almost as much as the trip!

49 days! yipeeee! :Pinkbounc

If the kids have allowence money they can spend that but otherwise no souvineers. We go to WDW at least once a year so there's not a big need.

Good luck to you! I love the planning almost as much as the trip!

Sure it can be done
*We camp in Fort Wilderness
*Go to the parks 3 or 4 days
*Take most of our food (we budget for meals in the parks)
*Take pictures instead of a lot of souveneirs then have fun
making a scrapbook when you get home
*On the days you don't go to the park, wander around the
resorts, go to Downtown Disney, ride bikes, go to the
campfire at FW, read a book, wander around Boardwalk, ride
the monorail, ...
*Drive down, (if that is possible)
* Making budgeting for $1,000 a game
Have a great time.

Enjoy your trip!!:sunny:

If you stay with the major companies, this can be a real budget saver. We did marriott one year and the room was $149 for 3 nights, plus free breakfast everymorning and free tickets to Universal. The tour was neat to see and all we said was no thank-you and we were on our way. I know its not for everyone, but I would do it again.

We save money at Disney by doing a couple of things already mentioned.

1. We buy souvenirs in advance. Sometimes Dollar Stores have Disney merchandise or things like glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets. Also, last year when the Disney store had their 75% off sale, we bought a lot of Disney stuff that we used for souvenirs, prizes for DDs birthday, and even Christmas gifts.

2. Because we were on a tight budget too, we ate breakfast in our hotel room and shared meals. (Our DDs are 1 and 3 and don't eat much.) We also took bottled water and snacks in a diaper bag. I love the suggestion that maggiew gave about buying Kid's Meals and sharing them at Epcot. What a great way to experience each countries' food, have fun, and save money too.

3. We drove to WDW. We had a rental car for two weeks for a little over $300. Saved money on airfare that way, but we did have to pay for gas.

4. We own a timeshare. Saved us from shopping around for hotels. Although I really want to stay onsite one day!

The suggestions in this thread are great! I hope that they help you!
