I would like to buy an annual premium pass while they are on sale. Can I activate it on the January 31 date at home so I can use it in March?

You can't. APs have to be activated at the parks.

You can buy an AP certificate and activate it when you get to WDW. That way it will be good for a year from your arrival/activation date.

We still have several certificates that we purchased a couple of years ago.

But it sounds like OP wants to buy the special deal that has to be purchased by this April and activated by Jan. Of 2015. OP, I think you are out of luck.

This was my understanding. Plus every person has to be present. We have been going back and forth on how to deal with it. Right now we have a Thanksgiving trip planned and will activate the day we leave. Only a little overlap with our present AP.

Yeah, I had called on clarification on this a few weeks ago. I asked what would happen if we took advantage of the special offer and had to cancel our January trip (our current APs don't expire until 12/31/14). They stated that the certificates would expire on 1/31/15 and couldn't be redeemed. They could however be used for a credit of the purchase price against the current price of ticket media/select items (I'm guessing anything that ticketing/dining could book).

Can these passes be activated at a resort hotel or do we have to go to one of the parks? Also, when do the park ticket offices open and close? Thanks :) Nevermind, I found my answer. APs can only be activated at Guest Relations in any of the parks or in Downtown Disney during normal operating hours.

Guest Services outside the parks or DTD. You can't do it at the resort concierge desk. When I activated mine in December, not everybody had to be there. Kids definitely don't and they activated my wife's with a copy of her driver's license.

While this can happen it is not policy. And according to others they have had to have the actual family members there.

I asked this same question previously as we were trying to figure out how to get ours next fall. One thought was my DH and one DS flying down for a weekend. When I asked if this was possible I was told that the policy is to have everyone present and to not count on being able to get the tickets without us all being there.

Any ticket window can activate it. This will avoid standing on line forever while Guest Services deals with the latest round of Tragic Band issues
