How can a big bag fit?

I read some of the thread about the best bags to bring, and was so surprised to see the larger bags.

If you bring a backpack can it really fit on all of the rides? I was surprised to see that most wouldn't leave a bag on the stroller? I don't see the point of carrying everything onto the rides with you? Like cups, extra changes of clothes, sunscreen.

There is alot of floor space usually or some netted compartment on the rides. Just loop the backpack through your leg so it doesn't bounce around.

I would never leave any bag unattended, WDW is a family place but no place is 100% safe, things get lifted out of strollers everyday. We lost a nice new sweatshirt our first year by leaving the bag in the bottom of ours.

Thanks so much for your response :)

I've carted a back-pack full of all the stuff needed to keep a baby in her happy space thru the parks, riding all the rides with no issues. And I am a size 20 - so I take up a little more space.

And, I've had the good fortune to never have a problem with leaving sweatshirts, stuffed animals, whatnot in the stroller... but then we do take the extra step to cover the basket with a little blanket nearly every time...

Anyway - happy first trip!!!

Timely article HERE

Good article... but I hafta say... Everyone is obsessed about the time it takes to get thru security. On this last trip - the first week of Feb, but with crowds like end of March - I volunteered to do security with the baby backpack + my own bag as much as possible. We were a large party, with kids and baby and such to coordinate, so we were pretty commando about getting the shortest line and making sure everyone had their little pouches and bags ready. I had a regular backpack full of baby/kid stuff + my Heys Travelmate bag. The longest - absolute LONGEST - time it took for me to get thru security was around 4 minutes, including line wait, everything. And the only reason it took that long was because that particular security lady needed to see the bottom of the bag (why, I'll never know).

Minimize as much as possible, but for most people with kids, they are used to hauling stuff around anyway... and Disney is NOT the place to be caught short on formula, baby food, a favorite toy. Not to say that you need everything from the hotel room, but travelling with small kids requires a certain amount of gear.

I don't have kids, so don't have the option of leaving my backpack in a stroller. I wouldn't leave anything valuable in a stroller - I'd hate to to take a chance on having anything stolen. I've read many posts where people have had things taken from a stroller. As another poster said, it's Disney, but it's still the "real world" and things can happen.

I use a small backpack, and don't stuff it totally full. It's nice and lightweight, so I hardly notice I have it on. Because it's not big, it's very easy to slip off and put at my feet on rides.
