I was thinking about booking a stay in one of universal hotels specifically to get front of the line access as I believe July is when USA schools are out and I think Harry Potter land will be complete. As a DVC member it seems stupid to pay for hotels when already have the accommodation but I keep thinking it will just be too busy. Will avoid 4th July weekend obviously, but just not sure if worth the gamble.

I thought it was worth it, Susan, so we booked to stay there for 4 nights over the Easter weekend simply for the ease the FOTL will give us - plus the hotels are lovely... :thumbsup2

You can always buy a FOTL pass for the day tho'... :goodvibes

We always go in July, we always stay onsite at Universal, even if we visit Disney parks, as the resorts are a lot better and cheaper than Disney Luxury resorts.
As for school holidays , most states are out from beginning of June for holidays.

Thanks Karen I forgot you could pay for the queue jumping tickets!!

Now thats another thought as cheaper and less hassle than moving hotels again.

We are hoping to get a treehouse villa for our second week when our friends are with us so would not really want to move three times.

We found it cheaper to have a Universal hotel room for one night than to pay for 2 days front of line pass for the 4 of us. Not ideal 4 in one room, but for one night it was OK. (We're planning to do the same this year but we won't check out of the hotel we're staying in for the rest of the fortnight, just take overnight stuff with us.)

I agree with Libby on this one. That was the plan we had for 2008 (although we ended up adding 3 nights onto 14 at the end and just stayed at the RPR).

Thanks for all the help and advice. We have now decided to stay the last two nights at a universal hotel.
