How busy will it actually be in June/July?

Hi everyone!
We have a trip booked fror 23rd June-5th July (our first trip!!), how busy will it really be? We have been to DLP before when it's been very busy and it wasn't too bad, but will we still be able to get on rides and get some lunch without queuing forever? Will the resorts be completely full as well? We're hoping to spend most of our time at the Disney parks, but with some days at the water parks and resort, and a few days at Universal. :)

It will be summer busy. Figure about an 8 most every day on a 1-10 scale. "Busy" is such a subjective term anyway.

I haven't found July 4th week to be unbearably busy in the past. I know people who go during off peak times think it's awful, but the only time I found it to be really unbearable was during July 4th Fireworks at DHS.

Will you be queuing all day.... it depends on when you want to ride. There are long standby lines in the afternoons for some things. We try to ride the headliners as early in the day as we can or really late on an EMH evening.

We'll be there 6/29-7/7 this year.

Crazy busy, crazy crowded, crazy fun!!! Lots of extra entertainment, and extended hours. Drink lots of water, and MK often closes to capacity on the 4th. They run the 4th fireworks both 3rd and 4th at MK, and a special 4th tag at EPCOT on the 4th. We love this time of year, but you will not be ambling through empty parks!

What Mesa said....:)

Busy can mean different things to different people. Lines at rides vs waits at food places vs the sheer amount of people walking around the park.

And the ride lines and food lines can vary by time of day, or day of the week. The one thing that won't vary is that during that time, there will be a veritable sea of humanity crowding the walkways, gift shops, and everywhere in between. But that's not to say that's bad especially if you enjoy being in places like downtown Manhattan or Tokyo..

Summer is busy and hot. Definitely avoid August if you can because it's get's very HOT. My family and I prefer mid July since it's the middle of the summer vacation.

I will be busy. Imho, summer is one of the worst times to go. The bugs are a pain and it is hot but disney is disney...(your bug mileage may vary...some report no bugs but for us they are usually bad...like mosquito net hat kind of bad). So plan on hour long waits for the big rides and half hour times for the more simpler rides. Just get into the parks as early as possible and plan to do lunch at the resort maybe in the pools and go back into the park after dark. Imho disney is much more interesting after dark. We go every year mid June for two weeks.

It will be very busy, but you are going for a long enough time that you should be able to see everything without having to wait in long lines. Arrive early, take advantage of morning EMH when it's not so hot, and take breaks every day between 1 and 5 PM.

The best thing about summer is long park hours! If you can either stay up super late or get up super early, you will be able to hit the headliners without hour long waits. Also since you are there for over a week, you probably won't need to see fireworks every night. Fireworks time is a great time to see attractions.

This will be our 4th time going in July. DH is a teacher so this is the only time we can go. It is hot, very hot. As far as crowds, it depends on how you are going to tour. We stay up late and sleep in. We have never made it to a RD. We used the paper fp a lot so this year will be a little different for us. This year we are not doing the dining plan. We would go crazy making reservations and then getting to them, I didnt want to do that anymore. Last 2 times we were there we could change reservations the same day and there were still many places to choose from. We made 2 res of places we really wanted to go to and wont be upset if we end up with QS some nights for dinner.

There are a lot of tour groups, but you cant let it get to you. Just go the other way. My dh and I both grew up going around Easter or for Spring Break and I can tell you we felt the summer was less crowded. Just go and have fun. I am so sick of all the FP+ debbie downers. People need to go with the flow, have fun because it is vacation after all and better yet a DISNEY vacation.
Have fun! ;)

I'll be there the same time (June 25-July 2) and staying at the same resort! It's my first trip in years, and the last one was in February, so I'm a little nervous about the crowds myself. I would have preferred to go at a less crowded, less hot time, but, we're going with DH's brother and his family, so we had to go when the kids were out of school.

For me, I figure we probably won't get to ride every single ride, but I'm okay with that. There are very few rides in the parks that I haven't ridden at some point in the past, so missing a few isn't going to kill me. I'm focusing more on the fact that this is my first time staying OP and eating at TS restaurants (we're doing the dining plan). Also, I remember the days before Fastpass, so I can't really get all upset about ONLY getting 3 FP per day when years ago you didn't get any and everyone waited in the same 45min - 1 hour lines.

We will almost definitely be doing rope drop for MK to try to maximize our time in the park. We have plans to eat counter service for lunches, so no lunch ADRs to keep us in the park if we get overwhelmed/overheated and need to head back to the resort for a few hours for a dip in the pool.

I will be the downer of the group, sorry. We did third week of June last year and we all agreed never again. We normally are a early November or February type of group. It was super rainy, super humid and incredibly crowded. I just don't like that sardine feeling whenever we walk anywhere. BUT on the flip side, if it is your absolute only time you can go, then it beats not going!

Hi Hannah

As you come from London thought you might appreciate the view of some other Brits (we come from Kent!)

We only ever go in July - AND ITS BRILLIANT!!! - Its always hot - which means you don't ever need jumpers or trousers even if it rains!! We only ever take t-shirts and shorts! The water parks are brilliant and the water is lovely even at 9 in the morning!! If you go to rope-drop you can always get to ride the headliners first thing...then spend the rest of the day chilling!!

Yes its busy...but that doesn't need to affect you at all. We get up early, go to the parks then back to the resort after lunch and crash for a few hours. Then back out in the evenings. Coming from England, being able to go swimming or just wander around late at night and still be warm -IS HEAVEN!! We have never found the resorts to be crowded at all - everyone is usually at the parks.

Honestly we would never go any other time - guaranteed Florida sunshine every day!! It does rain on quite a few afternoons - but not for long and then its just like it never happened!! Just make sure you have chill out / downtime in the afternoons when it is busiest and hottest....then it is the best holiday you will ever have!!!:):)

Thank you for all the help everyone!

We could have possibly gone at another time, but we wanted to be there for my 21st birthday, and with it being our first time there we'll probably want to do a bit of everything so big queues for the rides aren't the end of the world as we'll have two weeks to go on the rides we want to go on. We will hopefully take advantage of the EMH too!

The rain doesn't bother us either, being from England we're used to it raining wherever we go and as it will be so hot it will hopefully cool us down a bit!

Jester161- Absolutely, that sounds great! I love the idea of being able to swim late at night!!

Would the waterparks be less busy at the weekends because most people go to the parks? Or is it the other way around?

The water parks are busy every day because it's hot every day! :)

Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Hi Hannah

The water parks do get busy especially during the afternoon - but we have found that a lot of people leave about 4 or 5 - so we like to go for the last couple of hours when it is reasonably quiet. Best evening swim is in the resort pools though!

Also you have to go to the Rose and Crown pub in Epcot...it is a strange combination of Disney and what they think is an English pub!! But it is really great and they do a really good selection of beers...some UK people are a bit sniffy of it as it is a disneyfied version of a pub, but its great fun!

Are you staying at a resort hotel or offsite??
