How busy is President's Day/Week?

I'm from Canada.

My dd is in university and her "reading" week is always the week that includes the U.S. holiday President's Day. She is going to miss our trip this year because I am going on March break with ds who is still in elementary school.

I'd like to take her next year on the reading week. How busy is it? If I'm a person who usually goes to disney in May for Flower & Garden, will I find it overwhelming? May used to be a pretty quiet time, but has become more crowded over the years.

Moderators, I meant to put this on the planning board. Can you move it?

We were at POR from Feb 6-15/07. We left to go back to Calgary just as President's Week was starting and man o man it was complete bonkers by the time we left and that was before it fully kicked in. The weather is iffy also. Some days required gloves and a hat and others was swimsuit weather.

Sorry to have to tell you, but President's Day week (is that an oxymoron?) is among the absolutely busiest times at WDW. Probably surpassed only by Christmas/New Years.

I hear this all the time. Being from Louisiana and having some time off on Mardi Gras, that is a time we like to go. However, often that falls around the same time as President Day/Week and we avoid it those years.

Why is it so busy? Do lots of schools/businesses in the country close for the day/week?

Lots of schools in the North East have that week off. With folks getting really tired of winter around mid-February, a trip to Florida is often the vacation decision.

BTW, my wife is originally from Lafayette and we've been to Mardi Gras a few times. Fun, but... Check our web-site by clicking on my screen name to the left here and then following the link.

It is probably the 4th busiest week at WDW, after 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter. Maybe tied with the week before Easter. We are able to enjoy WDW during this time but have to play it smart. Parks at opening, back to resort after lunch, etc.

Spring Break Poll

As you see by my sig we have gone often during Pres. week. Most of the Northeast schools have that week off for a winter break. That weekend is also the Daytona 500 so you get many combining trips.

Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, but thanks for the replies. I think we'll have to think this through again. :sad2:
