Just after school gets out here in Tennessee. Will we beat the summer rush?

We're going May 10th-21st. Past years we've gone the same exact time (but the dates change obviously). We've never waited longer than 10 minutes. However our last day, Saturday, things change from 10 minute waits to 90 minute waits. The southern schools get out and it seems like they all head toward Disney. I mean, it's still much better than July and August, but it's nothing like the beginning and middle May. We couldn't believe the change 1 day made. Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Any more thoughts out there?

We usually go mid to late May (this year we are going May 18th-25th) and the crowds are not bad at all.

Last year we went right after the big 5/5/05 event when everyone said it was going to be a madhouse and it wasn't that bad then either.

We are going on most of the same days---May 18th to May 24th!

I am hoping that it won't be too hot nor too crowded...but hey, everything is happy when you are in WDW!

We would be there the week after that and after fighting the crowds presidents day weekend sometimes the happiness is not at quite as high a level.

Anybody have comments on the week after school lets out?

We have gone several times during this time period (around May 26 to June 10). This has normally been a very good time since many school systems across the country are still in session. Not all of the families from the South will be able to visit then, so its better than later in the summer. The parks and resorts get noticeably more crowded towards June 10 (and afterwards). I would choose this time to visit over spring break and any other time during the summer. :thumbsup2

We did visit in 2002 from May 26 to June 5 and the parks and resorts were very crowded. I suspect that many travelers had put off a visit to WDW just after the attack on the World Trade Center (September 11, 2001). Maybe more people who would have visited during spring break in 2002 waited until the start of the summer as the travel industry in general picked back up. Hopefully, someone else will provide input on a more recent visit during this timeframe. :confused3

Some of the parks get crowded due to Gay Days activities and events, especially the MK on the 1st Saturday of June (June 3 this year).
