We are thinking of going the week of Dec 20-27.
How busy is it usually?
On Christmas Day is there anything special? How busy is that day?
Thanks!

Christmas week is notorious for being absolutely packed at DL. Lines for rides, food, restrooms are long, and there may well be gate closures at some point on the busiest days (like Christmas Day). It can be a very fun time to visit DLR as long as you are prepared for the crowds. Dec. 20th will be the last night for Candlelight Processional at DL, so you might want to try to see that (there should be 2 performances that night).

Thursday Dec. 20th our 2 local High School bands will be there at a total of 440 kids just in the Disneyland Park.

December 24th - December 31st is the busiest week of the year at DLR. The week leading up to that time period is also busy.

There is nothing specifically different about Christmas Day. It is usually slow in the morning and then gets busy around 11am, progressively building throughout the day to a very crowded day -- what some say is the second busiest day of the entire year.

Yikes, not what I wanted to hear!
I thought maybe Christmas Day wouldn't be so busy, as people usually stay at home to do Christmas!

I am thinking the week after, Dec 27-Jan 5 will be crazy busy also?

Probably even worse--and NYE is just plain insane... Since everyone is out of school that week for sure (at least the 20th and 21st most kids are still in school.)

I agree with the above. Crowds will be insane, and there will be long lines for everything. If I go it's just for the atmosphere, and I don't get in line for anything.
