How busy do you think the week of December 20th will be?

We are currently booked at OKW the week of 12/13. We are considering switching to the week of 12/20, checking out on 12/24. My son has vacation from school that week and it would be better if we didn't take him out.

Has anyone been that week? How busy would it be compared to the previous week? I checked the WDW reservation site and tried to get rooms in every category (DVC, deluxe, moderate, and value). All searches came up with 2 choices. So it looks like there will be room. Does that correlate to park crowding?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Amy

I have been there the week before Christmas right through New Year's. The parks and resorts get more crowded, the closer you get to Christmas. Early in the week of the 20th, you won't find it nearly as crowded as you get closer to the weekend of the 25th.

We love that time of year at WDW and don't mind the crowds at all. You just have to learn to work around them.

Well, I haven't been that time of year, but just got through purchasing the '05 Unofficial Guide for our upcoming trip in February. Anyway, according to the guide, the entire week of the 13th in the Parks is a "1" or "2" on a scale of "1" to "10". (A one is defined as "lightest crowd conditions of the year" and ten is "jam packed"). The 20-24 of December it gets higher, beginning at a "3" on the 20th and ending at a "7" on the 23rd and a full-blown "10" on the 24th. (A seven is "crowded, expect waits of 65 minutes or more at headliner attractions and 40 minutes or more at major attractions").

Hope this helps,

We've been twice in the past few years that week and are going again this year...not too bad with crowds, weather can be iffy so bring a warm coat! Probably not a good week for swimming, but good for enjoying the parks and the holiday season...worst wait....Candelight Processional...hope to see you there!:D

My guess is that it may be a little more crowded this year since Xmas falls on a Saturday and many schools are off the whole week before. I know we will be taking advantage of the lower prices the same dates as you (we just can't decide if we're going to WDW, cruising or skiing.)

Talked it over with the DH. I think we are keeping our reservation for the 13th. The "1" or "2" on a scale of 1-10 is very appealing! LOL!

As much as I dislike crowds, DH dislikes them even more!

We usually go Thanksgiving week and just stop going to the parks after Wednesday. We wanted to see the Christmas lights and go to MVMCP this year.

We'll be there that week, and we're leaving on the 23rd. We made the ressies (BWV) day by day 11 months out because I really knew that WE wanted to be there then!

We check in on 12/16 for six or seven nights. Since I teach and have kids in school, this time suited our schedules the best. If it is crowded, we will just deal with it. Just happy to be at Disney during the holidays.
