How Big of a Disadvantage Not Having MaxPass?

I've thought about it, and the $200 it would cost us to all have it at Christmas (if the price hasn't jumped by then) isn't worth it right now for us. We'll stick with the paper FPs (and I scrapbook so I'm good with paper), and just pay the $99 for PP+.

Maybe the time after that we'll see how we feel about it.

I used it today. So from the perspective of someone who rarely uses fast pass at DL:

Right now, it isn't necessary. If I hadn't been jet lagged and curious, I would have passed and been fine without it. Max standby listed in DL was Space Mountain at 1 hour, and that really isn't bad.

The main advantage it gives you is booking a fp immediately on entry and pretty much walking from fast pass ride to fast pass ride. DL is not a huge place like MK and honestly I don't think I did signicantly more walking with MP than I would have done without. What it really did help with was standing. I'm jet lagged and in pain today; MP made it so I spent almost no time in stand by line, which was pretty awesome. Also, if I hadn't had it, I wouldn't have gotten that last fast pass on matterhorn. That's the main advantage it will give you. You'll get more fast passes and you'll get the later times before people can pull manually.

I think it's worth it if:

You have 1 or two day tickets especially if they are Park hopper tickets.

You are mobility challenged or with someone who tires easily.

Like photopass

Not worth it if:

You have 4 or more days. Maybe even 3.

If you really don't mind running for paper passes

you are a regular and more into the shows and atmosphere.

I was surprised to find that I would do it again. It was less about the walking, too. I have never pulled so many fast passes in my life, and finally when jet leg kicked in, I had to ditch two. I never do that.

So not necessary, but right now, while it is $10, well worth it. Consider how much drinks and snacks are.

We're here now and I'm absolutely loving MP! I'd only planned to purchase it for 1 or 2 days but I'm going to end up getting it for all 5 days! It's saved so much time and running around!!

That said, it's only my DD9 and I this trip so not having to drag her around to the FP machines is worth the $20 per day for me. If it was my whole family and we were able to have a FP runner I probably wouldn't purchase it, especially if the price increases.

We have 7 of us and are going for 5 days and I plan on using it- at least for a few days. After experiencing FP+ at WDW last year for the first time and how convenient that was to make and modify FP, I'm hoping MP will be just as convenient. Yes, it is an extra expense, but hoping it is worth it for us!

I'm hoping the price stays at $10 at least until the spring - we're going on a three-day girls-only trip then and have every intention of buying MP, but a price increase might affect that plan.

I was at the parks Sunday and Monday and DID NOT buy Max pass and had no issues using FP and riding everything. I think other than it being convenient there is nothing different.

This is how I imagined it...before I got to try it out. I said the exact same thing to my sister..."it's basically so you don't have to walk". But man, I couldn't believe the convenience! It's not just about the walking (although that part is nice). It's the shorter time you have to wait (1 1/2 hours vs 2 hours if it's a later return time). And the being able to pull your next fast pass while you're in line at one ride...by the time you're done with that ride and walk to the next ride your return window has opened! Also, not to mention the awesomeness of pulling out of DL park on the monorail for our afternoon break whilst "pulling a fast pass" and then being able to pull another one 90 minutes later from the hotel room! It was super convenient. With that said, OP, you'll still be just fine not using it, but to say max pass is simply about not walking is a huge understatement. It may be a hard sell initially, but once people use it, I doubt they'll go back.

THIS! We added it to our APs and it's the best! We rode grizzly and big thunder 3 times in a row in under 30 minutes! We can leisurely stroll into the park in the mornings after booking the FP from our phone right after entry. And booking the next over at DCA while we take our time to park hop.

this is my first time using it with my premier ap pass, so I'm curious how it will roll for my end of august trip with the disney run event and everything happening that weekend, I assume the park will be busy

FYI- you can buy max pass for one person each day and get all your pics that way. I tried it one day for my whole family (and loved it!), the next day I just bought it for me (later in the day) and got all our pics for the entire day (including the morning...it updated a couple hours after I bought maxpass and unblocked those too).

I was thinking about that, but if we all wanted to ride something and only one of us has a MP, won't that affect the remaining FPs? Ie: my MP gives me a 60 minute return but everyone else's FP gives them a 90 minute return. Or can I buy MP and just use paper FPs anyway?

You don't use it for your FPs...you just pull them manually like the rest of your party

Well doesn't that switch things up?! I wonder how long the 'introductory price' will stick around for? We're going in December so if it's still the same I may just do that to make life less expensive. I wasn't sure if I'd be allowed a normal FP if I purchased MP.

People who buy MP can still go to the kiosk like everyone else pulling a traditional (free) FP. So like the response above, just pretend you don't have MP for the purposes of FP. Your reminder ticket might say you can get another FP in 90 minutes (the system knows you have MP) while the rest of your party has to wait 2 hours, but if you just wait the 2 hours like the rest of your group it works out the same.

Cool! I can buy it on my ipod just for the pictures! Can I pay with a Disney gift card?
