I was just on Laura's remodel thread and I thought wow. I was wondering how big were some of the homes us DISer's owned

I just moved in April. It is a 2800 square foot single story home. It's 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 dining rooms plus a gameroom. I want to add in a couple of years a half story with a bigger game room/media room.

What kind of house are you living in???

We have a large home since my mother moved in with us. We have 3800 Square Feet. We have 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, living room is upstairs, formal dining room that we NEVER use, sunken den, sunroom and most importantly a HUGE HUGE HUGE backyard.

We really don't need all of this room because its heck to clean but I wish that we could buy a smaller home and keep our same exact backyard!

Hmm, we have a 3450 sq. ft ranch, with 3.5 baths, 5 bedrooms, formal dining, eating nook & two living rooms as well.... We're finishing off one of the wings upstairs so we can create a play room that is out of sight & mind! I should say we have four adults & two children, so we really needed this house (and just moved in from a significantly smaller house)...

Beauty, do what we did, we use our formal dining room as a TV room & that gives us three living rooms, only that formal dining room has french doors & I can close off the mess!!!

I thought it was just us. DH and I have been talking about for weeks about what to do with the formal dining. We brought one of those new counter height tables, and we have seating in our nook for 8. We never use the formal. I might have to revisit what to do with that room

We bought our 2nd home 6 years ago. It's 2750 square feet - 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, living room, dining room, kithen, family room. I am looking forward to the day we get our basement remodeled like we had at our old house, but so far the funds haven't been there to do it - although they were there to buy into DVC (where are my priorities!!!)

We have a decent sized backyard & some great neighbors, so even if I wanted a larger home I wouldn't move from here because of the people around us!!!

1900 sq ft and plenty big. Enough room for 2 kids (eventually!)

3700 square feet. 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, kitchen with eating nook, large formal dining area, 70X88 living room, 2 offices, 3 car garage all on 2.5 acres. With 4 daughters, 2 german shephards, and a cat, this is plenty of room.

We're living in a 1450 sq foot townhouse now (not including the basement) and the house we are moving to is 2750 square foot -- almost double the size! It has 4 bedrooms, a living room, family room, den, dining room and kitchen. It also has a full, unfinished basement. I can't wait!

Sheree' does your formal dining room have french doors? If so, I'd convert it right away LOL.... (if you have kids & their stuff!)

2700 sq feet. 4 BR, 3 1/2 BA, all brick. Just me, DH, 4 pugs and a DD16 on the weekends.

Ours is 1100 sq ft, with a great yard and a river as part of our backyard. It's muddy in my picture (like it is today with all of the rain) but it's normally a beautiful green. We bought small to live on only my dh's income before we had our son so I would be able to stay home with him. It's very peaceful here.

Hmmm, not sure the sq footage--maybe 3500 including the basement?

It has 4 bedrooms upstairs with two bathrooms (master bath is big). The main level has a small formal living room (with a neat tray ceiling, which means a smaller upstairs than we would otherwise have--I wish it had the regular ceiling with a 5th bedroom upstairs), dining room, family room, large eat-in kitchen, a study, and a powder room. We also have a finished basement with a large guest bedroom/playroom with a ping-pong table, a rec room (wreck room ;) ) with a kitchenette and area for a foosball table, full bathroom, a home office for my work-at-home husband, and an unfinished storage/workshop.

We have 4 kids and between them and my DH working at home we use and love the space. It's a lot to clean, though. Our last house was an 1800 sq ft split level house--3 small bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, living room, small kitchen, dining room and a basement rec room. We were so cramped!

Our old house backed to woods, though. Very private and nice. Our current house backs to neighbors...

About 1600sq ft...4 bdrms, 2.5 baths....way too small for 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs...

and my dd7 bedroom you must first go through this room to get to the boys bedroom..won't work very well in a few years....

Ours is about 1100 square feet. 3 bedrooms 1 1/2 baths, great room, dining room and a SMALL galley kitchen. We are hoping to enlarge the kitchen next year, by moving the wall into the great room. We enclosed the garage for DH's dad years ago. We are hoping to enlarge that space too. So the square footage won't change, we will just be getting down on the size of the great room and enlarging the kitchen and the garage room.

Mine is about 3,000sf, not counting the guest room over the detached garage.

We have 2&1/2 baths, 3 bedrooms + additional room (I think it was a nursery, we'll eventually expand our tiny Master Bath into it; right now it's for storage and exercise equipment)

We have a formal living room with fireplace, formal dining room, huge family/kitchen area(with laundry room), and a panelled library with fireplace and built in shelves...the reason we bought the house! :D

It's plenty big for the 4 of us, especially since my daughter is away, and uses the guest "room" when she's home.

2800 sq. ft. 4 br. 2-1/2 bath (1 jack & jill bath), I wish I had about 5 more sq ft. but then I would just have that much more junk/toys:rolleyes:

Just DH & I (& 1 kitty) so all we need is our 1300 sq ft townhouse. We have 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, kitchen, dining, living room w/ pellet stove insert, family room and laundry room; and attached oversized 1 car garage. All rooms are quite large & there's plenty of great closets; also have our pull down stairs to the attic. And of course our good size deck & large backyard.

Seems like we have more space (or at least larger rooms) than family members who own houses....so everyone ends up here at holidays. It's a great home & floor plan.

Best of all --- we've been paying alot extra every month...and it'll be pd off in about 2.5 yrs ...before we turn 43!! :Pinkbounc

Ours is about 3600 sf. Four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, library, family rooms, 3 car garage ect.. We have an unfinished basement. If we EVER get that done it will be 4600. We only have a 1/2 acre lot but that I am finding is too big because I am sick and tired of weeding!

Ours is 1750sf above grade with 3 bdrm 3 bath. We have an 1,100sf basement that is finished except for a nice storage area for all our junk
