Never rode this ride, always wanted to , got in building after long wait, saw tracks up high in the dark and left the line.

Just how high are the drops on this ride??? How many?? i heard that it's different each time??

Thx:wave:

It's not different each time; there are two different tracks, a right side and a left side and the differ slightly. Space Mountain really doesn't have that many dips, not like a regular roller coaster you would see at say Universal or Busch Gardens....it really has lots of turns; at Disneyland (the Spcae mountain I have been on the most) it's tons and tons of right turns- you go up to the top and basically just circle down the mountain, with a few small dips and cascades. The scary/fun part about it is that it's in the dark and you are not sure what to expect.

I can't help but smile when anyone asks about SM. 6 yrs ago DH and I Disneymooned. SM was the first ride we went on and DH had never ridden it before. Picture this, strong policeman husband (former Secret Service officer), sitting behind me screaming like a girl!! I almost died laughing. I laughed so hard I lost my sunglasses that were pushed up onto the top of my head.

Don't even worry about this ride. The thrill isn't necessarily the loops and turns, it's the fact that it's in the dark. DH is the first to admit that it was more exhilarating than scary.

JUST DO IT!!! You won't regret it.

Is it really 24 feet down?? Oh boy!
I can just about take the 14 foot drop in pirates of caribbean!
how bad is maelstrom??

and space mtn?

Space Mountain is TAME for a coaster in my opinion. The real "fun" is the fact that it is in the dark. I only really lift out of my seat twice on SM - not bad at all.

Ride it and have a great time!

I went on Space Mountain for the first time in August. The ride couldn't end fast enough. Too many jolts. I felt like my head was going to fall off.

I've heard it's rough on your neck/back, too. Is that true?? I really want to ride, but I"m leaving my chiropractor at home, so I don't want to mess up my back!:(

Space Mountain is very tame!! My mom even rode it and loved it and she is NOT a roller coaster person whatsoever!!!! :) There aren't any big hills, ya know the kind that make your stomach feel funny. That's part of why I really enjoy it too, I love even big roller coasters but it's nice to go on tame ones sometimes too. You should really give it a try.::yes::

Edited to say that I think the dips in Splash Mountain are more intense than Space Mountain! LOL!

I absolutely love this ride but after spending lots of $$ this past year on physical therapy for an old injury on my neck, I will probably pass on this ride this June. Of course......I could ride it my last day there and then hit up my therapist for a few more sessions when I get back home!!!:teeth: I really love this ride!!

I love the ride and do have a 'bad' back. It can be a bit jerky, IMO. I just try to not allow myself to be shaken too much. As for 24 feet, that has to be the longest combination vertical and horizontal combined drop. Can't think of anyplace it has a vertical drop of 2 1/2 stories (25 feet). The total drop is 35 feet, top to bottom. This might help a bit............

I don't like rollercoasters much at all, but ds wanted me to ride Space Mountain with him, so I did...5 times. It was a bit jerky, but it wasn't that scary, really.

My favorite ride in the whole park is Splash Mountain. That has a bit of a drop or two, but it's so much fun. I would ride it over and over and over all day long if I could.

The Maelstrom isn't bad at all. If I'm remembering right, the dip is about the same size as POC, but it's backwards. We went on it with my eleven month old on my dh's lap and we were all fine. No big deal at all.

Norway I think is short that POC. It was pretty lame. I think if you ask them for the front seat it will be alot easier on everything. It is when you get in the back that you feel the ride more. I wish they would set SP in Orlando up like DL. DL SP is alot better the ride cars have side by side seating not one in front of the other. Hope theis helps Oh and don't close your eyes you will miss alot.:) lol
