How bad is ToT, really?

DH and I love ToT. He gets motion sickness, but ToT does not bother him in the least. I love how each ride is a bit different since the drop sequence is random. I think you'll like it. If not, it's just a couple minutes of sheer terror and then you'll never have to ride again!:rolleyes1

my fourth trip was the time I got the nerve to go on it. I went with my nephew. He agreed to tell me what was coming up, which was my biggest fear. For me, I was still scared, but him telling me when we were going to start the drop sequence helped so much. Now it is one of my top five rides at WDW. love it. That might be considered spoiling the ride but not for me.

It is my favorite ride for theming and sheer thrilling fun! But in thirteen years, no one else in my family has dared ride with me.

Hello everyone! Quick question. So I'm on a quest to ride all the rides at Disney world and I see Tower of Terror is on the list:eek:. Anyway at first I thought it looked absolutely terrifying:scared1: but then I got on youtube and watched the ride and it didn't look so bad:confused3..But then one of my friends rode it and said it was awful and she's a thrill rider! So now i'm confused and I wanted to know how bad is it, really?:thanks:

I think You mean "How good is TOT"! My 5-year old DD did it but was abit scared. It is a truely awesome ride with a great theme.

I'll tell you one thing for sure, though. Even though I would never ride ToT again, I :love:love the queue!
One of the best queues anywhere.
The theming is fantastic and I happily walk through with friends who will ride and I just tell the loading CM I'm not riding and leave through the "Chicken Exit", which ironically is an elevator!

:lmao:

I may walk thru and skip the ride one time just to check it out!

When we went in 2009 I cried for like 20 minutes afterwards I was so shaken by it, swore I would never ride it again, thought it was awful, etc.

Last week I went on it twice and it really wasn't that bad. A couple of short drops each time, no big deal.

And I'm not a big thrill seeker.

Don't like drops, don't like heights. Never been on ToT, never will. But I will say that I love Twilight Zone!

Best ride ever. It and EE are my favorites, and IMO TOT can have some of the most in-character CMs there are. We had 2 last week that were hilarious.

We just recently tried it after about 30 visits to WDW. It is really alot of fun but I think most people are intimidated by the anticipation of the drop. Even though you know its coming you will still have to scream so don't fight it just scream. That's what we do. lol. Two things that I have noticed are:
1. It's best when you are on the ride with a bunch of screamers, just adds to the fun.
2. Don't even try to take a good photo on this ride. I can put on a smile for EE and Splash but every photo I have taken on this ride winds up with my face all scrunched up and my hair flying all over.:rotfl:

My DS2 (42" tall), DS5, and DD6 all loved the ToT. My DS5 is still talking about the ghosts during the queue which makes waiting go fast. The up and down doesn't bother us. I was more worried about the Mission SPace warning before the ride than ToT. Too bad my youngest was tall enough for that one!

ToT is absolutely my favorite ride in all of WDW! I would have never guess that I would be saying that, but it is absolutely true. I will ride RnR, Space Mountain, Thunder, etc. but am always glad when it's over. But there's just something incredible with the theming and experience of ToT that keeps me coming back for more. The first time I rode it, the adrenal rush made me laugh hysterically throughout the drop sequence and for a couple minutes after the ride finished. People thought I was crazy!

On the other hand, in summer 2009 we took my son's BFF and he was visibly shaken after the ride. He really seemed disoriented and it took a few minutes for him to recover. Apparently drop rides aren't for everyone! :)

I think ToT is one of my top 3 rides in all the parks. And I really really did not like the idea of the drops at all. The brief sensation of floating is awesome, and there are times when you don't know whether you're going up or down.

The kind of restraints WDW uses on the rides is a good indicator of just how intense they are going to be. ToT just has a lap belt like Soarin'. Nothing at all like the big cushioned over the shoulders restraint on RnR.

:lmao:

I may walk thru and skip the ride one time just to check it out!
Definitely, everybody should do this at least once.
The Imagineers really got it right on this queue/pre-show! :thumbsup2

Such a strange thing the level of tolerance of rides people have. I know people who can't handle Dinosaur or Space Mountain but LOVE this ride. Yet people can do RnRC, which is arguably the "toughest" stereotypical rollercoaster in Disney and not be able to handle ToT. I love ToT-it's a different type of thrill than a rollercoaster. If you don't have a fear of heights or dropping and the sensation of coming out of your seat doesn't bother you-you'll love it.
This pretty much sums it up. ::yes::
I hate the sensation of the drop. Ever have one of those dreams that you are falling and you wake up terrified? That's the feeling I get from ToT.

I love TOT but I hate it :lmao: It is the best themed ride I have ever been on, even better than Harry Potter Forbidden Journey.
