How bad is ToT, really?

ToT is definately one of my most favorite Disney attractions. Queues seem shorter than many other Disney attractions (even on the regular line), and the ride itself is just thrilling.

The big issue for many is the drops. If you're really not a fan of that weightless feeling thing, you get, when one drops down fast...then this probably isn't the attraction for you.

I don't find the height thing is too much of an issue, mostly because you don't even get to see how high you are for any long period of time. It's practically an eye blink then you're back in the dark.

The shots back up were so fun!!!

After my 2nd or 3rd time on it, I was always yelling "AGAIN! AGAIN! AGAIN!" I didn't want it to stop. And everytime we got to the bottom and saw the ghostly guests beckon again...I was like YEAH!!! IT'S NOT OVER YET!!! WOO HOO!!! To me the end swirly thing always came with the slightest bit of sadness cause I knew the ride was over. LOL!!!

There's only one way to find out! :rolleyes1

DD8 and I were terrified, but wanted to give it a go. Turned out to be the highlight of the trip.

I used to LOVE roller coasters until I lost hearing in one ear and now can't do circles . It recreated the feeling of vertigo, which is BAD!

But the drop was no problem. With that said, if you don't like drops in roller coasters or Splash then it's not for you. I know this is more extreme than those drops, but it's a taste of it. If you don't mind drops (in general) - give it a shot.

Well, my stomach met my brain and they were both screaming inside of me. I was grabbing on handles like never before, my eyes were closed and I refused to breath. When my DD asked why I was so quiet, I said, I prayed for all that to be over already. ;) When I got out, I was happy there was a smoking area right outside, where people were nervously smoking, sitting and just putting themselves together. Honestly, never again, I prefer to shop in a store while waiting for my DD, she loves this ride.

I am horribly afraid of heights. I would not get on any free fall ride out there. Somehow I talked myself into getting on Tower of Terror. I loved it. It is easily one of the best rides at Disney from start to finish. Give it a try. It is not tame but not scary either.

I'm a big baby when it comes to thrill rides! I never thought I could do TOT. One day, I got my nerve up and went. I liked it!!:) I make sure to do it BEFORE I eat in the morning- just in case!:thumbsup2

ToT is my most favoritest ride of all time, anywhere!

My husband says he rides it purely for the fun of being on it with me. Apparently, I squeal like a little kid in a candy shop. :rotfl:

My favorite ride! It wasn't always that way. My DH convinced me to go on it the first time - I was SO scared. I hate rollercoasters because I don't like the big drop. We got in line for this and I was nearly in tears. I seriously considered chickening out. Well, after it was over, I immediately wanted to go back on. Now it's my favorite and my DH will go on once and done. I have to ride several times.:confused3

I am afraid of heights so the first few times we were able to ride ToT I passed. When I finally tried it I loved it. The thrill overcame the height fear. Since the ride is enclosed in the building it does not give you the feeling the tower may fall over like the free fall rides if that makes sense.

In comparison I went on the Kissing Tower in Hershey and had a major issue. If you've never been it is a very tame slow ride but goes up very high. You sit in seats facing out Hersey kiss windows while it slowly rotates and goes up to give you a view of the area. Since it goes soooooo slow it gave me plenty of time to imagine all the things that could go wrong.:scared1:

I found the drop in ToT is short enough that the feeling is not that bad. The drop in Splash effects my stomach more. I still ride them both.

Not bad at all. You just feel weightless and drop at quick speeds! I love that ride  ~ Riding it at nights the best :woohoo:

Grrrr.... you're all going to make me ride it tomorrow! This one is the one ride I'm very nervous about. So far my 3 faves at WDW are EE, Space Mtn, and Soarin'. I guess we'll see where TOT rates tomorrow!

I hate drops like on rollercoaters, but I love TOT. It's just so much fun. I'm not brave enough to keep my arms up, but I hang on and scream. It's great!

rode it once to see what it was like.....got off TERRIFIED! :scared1:

rode it again last year for my DN and Dsister.....got off shaking and crying....yes really crying, it scared me that much.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!
I am the one with head in my DN shoulder

all you people with your arms up are totally nuts...lol

i am a wimp, a sissy, a baby and my son convinced me to ride it last week. It was a blast!!! We went on several times. You will enjoy it!!

Have you ever been to the Sears Tower in Chicago? (Sorry, Willis Tower now)? It's really not that different from riding the elevator in that building to and from the observation deck. The biggest difference is on TOT it is dark and you are strapped to a seat.

I remember riding TOT when it first opened and it was absolutely horrifying to me. I was so frightened and truly thought at one point I was having a heart attack that I didn't ride it for years after. I would always go with my DH through the line though because I LOVE the theme and decor of the attraction. Well . . . fast forward to a year or two ago. I thought I'd give it a shot again. I was apprehensive of course but needed to conquer it! I don't know if it's been changed or not, but it seemed completely tame compared to the first time I rode. I mean a completely different ride! Almost, dare I say it, boring?? Probably too harsh a word but now I don't ride it because it doesn't really give me a thrill. I still like to walk through the creepy hotel though.

My husband hadn't been on any thrill rides, so he tried ToT with me and grabbed the leg of the lady sitting next to him. :rotfl: Now we skip it everytime.

Just got off it, maybe 10 mins ago. LOVED it! Verdict from my 7yr old - NEVER again. Verdict from my 4yr old - when can we ride it again?
