How bad is Tony's?

We had Tony's our first time at Disney when we didn't know enough to get the dining plan. It was horrible. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and I believe I split it with my husband. The service was horrible and the place wasn't even busy. We haven't been back since but that was a long time ago. Maybe they have improved?

I don't think it's bad. I'm not overly picky though. It's theme park dining, it's nothing fabulous, but not by any means terrible.

I have eaten at just about every restaurant on property and I have had 4 truly bad meals. I will rank them in terms of awfulness.

1. Cantina San Angel- we actually threw away our food
2. Mama Melrose- I spit a rubbery piece of calamari out in my napkin, after I discovered that it could not be chewed successfully
3. Alkershus lunch- the food was so gross we left hungry
4. Chef Mickey's dinner- my family insists on eating there, even though I think the food and buffet is disgusting, however the character interaction is great and the desserts are good, so I take one for the team

tony's = terrible - would never go back, felt rushed, and the food was disgusting, almost a joke to call it italian....never never never

I really debated on this one! Our 180 days is next week and I am finishing out my plans.

I have two kids who like Olive Garden. My oldest wanted to go there for her birthday. When DH and I want a higher end meal, we go elsewhere. For kids though, it sounds like it will be an excellent option.

I have to totally agree with you on #4!

We ate there mid October. We really liked it and didn't have a problem with our service either. We didn't orginally have ADRs for Tony's. When I made the mistake of going to the wrong park on the wrong day we ended up eating at Tony's instead of 50's Prime Time. Like you, I was a little leary of going there but was pleasantly surprised with the food.

It is what it is.Consider reading several posts of each respondent as well. There are so many different tastes to consider and some folks are never happy or have positive experiences.
We like the convenience, proximity to the parades and exit.Food is adequate, service as well.Since it is in the park there can be issues with crowds.

Relax, expect good things and they will find you:grouphug:.

We ate at Tony's in 2006 for our Anniversary! We enjoyed it very much and I have reservations there for our 2010 trip! The food was good and service was excellent. We are not picky at all but I definately think that kids will like it!

You just have to try a restaurant and make decisions on your own - there are always good (and bad) reviews for almost every WDW establishment. We also like Mama Melrose where another poster did not have a good experience. We have eaten there twice and YUP -- will again in 2010. (But I have to admit that I would NEVER eat calamari so I don't have to worry about rubbery bits of squid ever! :))

Have fun ... don't agonize over this. There are always snacks to supplement ANY uneaten meal.

We've eaten there twice and enjoyed it. We're going back in January. We had good service both times and thought the food was good. Kids had spaghetti, I think - husband and I tried the steak and forget what else. Thought everything was good.

Vote YES for Tony's!!! We went last Feb and are going back again next Feb. My DS chose it for her special meal since the spaghetti and breadsticks were great and there are Lady and the Tramp things everywhere! Y'all will have a great time I'm sure!

We ate there on October 3, and the food and service were both horrible!

Let's see....They argued with us at the check-in podium that we must have left the building, because our pager buzzed and they called our name, but we never came back to the podium to be seated. (We were sitting in the waiting area in front of the podium the entire time.)

We seemed to be a bother to our server. He had a major attitude problem and "forgot" to bring our bread out until after our meal was almost finished. He visited our table a grand total of five times: Drinks, drinks/order, dessert, brought bill, and returned bill. He didn't bring our entrees out and never came to the table to ask how they were.

The food was ice cold and not good at all. I don't think we'll go back. :sad2:

Edited to add: We were also celebrating our anniversary that night. There were streamers and Mickey head confetti on the table when we arrived.

We went there last year before the MVMCP and the food and service were excellent. The waiter asked us where we were from and he used to live where we live. Which is a small town of about 100k people. We ordered the Flavors of Italy Antipasto for an appetizer and it was good as well. We are going back again in 2 weeks before the MVMCP again.

We love Tony's Town Square  It has become our tradition to eat our first and last meals there :goodvibes I have had some very good steaks at Tony's and my daughter loves the chicken parm and spaghetti

we ate there a few weeks ago...the review is in the Picky Eater/Glutton link in my signature. The food is OK... Macaroni Grill/Olive Garden quality, so it sounds like your kids will really like it. We had great service when we went so that was a pleasant surprise :)

I ate lunch at Tony's on 10/21 and it was such a pleasant surprise!! The food and service were both terrific. You have to take all the bad reviews with a grain of salt and give it a try. Another restaurant that gets consistently bad reviews here is San Angel Inn and that was probably the best meal of our trip!! Give it a shot - I think you'll enjoy it!:goodvibes

Sorry when we ate there in Feb of 09 it fell far short of even an Olive garden , And the service is some of the worst ever!! very very bad never again.

A few years ago we dined at Tony's. It was my daughters birthday dinner. She was wearing a birthday button. About half way through our meal one of the servers announced that we are celebrating several birthdays today. My daughter's name was not mentioned. The server we had was abrupt, and impatient. Did not acknowedge my daughters birthday at all. My daughter accidentally spilled a soft drink on the table. Our server was nowhere to be found. About 4 servers walked past our table, noticed, said oh what a mess, but not one of them offered to help us clean up. I ended up going to the hostess at the podium to ask for a cloth, as all of our napkins had been soaked. I expected to be told that they would get someone to clean it up, but no, I was given one!

Of course the bill came quickly, as this was in the days when 18% gratuity was include with the dining plan.

The food was okay, nothing outstanding, but I wasn't expecting outstanding. We like Italian food and all of our dishes were acceptable.

I will never return because of the bad experience with the service staff. Some tables had very attentive servers. I guess its chancy.

Good luck!

I was there 2 months ago and the service was fine. As for the food, I'm the the "similar to Olive Garden" camp. It's not exactly Little Italy, but it's fine. The steak was surprisingly decent.

We went a couple weeks ago, and we enjoyed it! The food wasn't amazing, but it was good (and better than some of our other meals). We had a very nice waitress and great service. I would go back....

We had Tony's in may and we loved:) it.

I suppose service really does make the experience and ours was excellent.

As other's have said not a gourmet experience, but then again, we don't like gourmet food. :rotfl2:

BTW - We're with PP about Chef Mickey's only the whole family agreed NEVER AGAIN!
