We are driving from MI :drive: for spring break and my DH and I are trying to figure out when to leave. We are planning on taking our kids out of school on Thursday April 1st and leaving early (5 am) that morning and getting to the south side of Atlanta that night. Are we going to have to fight traffic all the way to WDW if we start early in the morning of Good Friday?

My DH wants to leave on Wed. night and get to WDW on thursday. This was supposed to be a budget trip and the extra night would be cash (the rest is AP and DVC).

Any help would be great! :)

TIA!

Traffic will be intense all the way to FL - worse and worse the closer you get and depending on when you are coming home oh my.

I have done this a few times and am amazed at the number of cars on the highway and the extra time it takes me both ways.

Starting out early helps early in the day but it does build as you get closer.

One word describes the traffic in Atlanta...HORRIBLE!

We've driven down from Wisconsin 4 times at Easter and each time-except for the time we went through about 2am-we ended up sitting in traffic on Good Friday. The last time it took us 4 hours to go 5 miles! (There was also road construction at the time.)

Also--we experienced bad traffic on the way back from Fl state line all the way through Georgia on the following Friday coming home.

On the flip side...we drove down in October once and no traffic problems whatsoever!

The earlier you can leave, the better. I wish you luck!
