How bad is the lightning or thunderstorm in Florida?

It seems the major downpours are in the afternoons. We occasionally have rain in the morning if there's storms around, but it's never been to the point where I couldn't drive. However, in the afternoon showers, I have been known to pull over into a shopping center and wait until it let up some.

Thanks Sandy. Was there ever a time when you can't drive to work or maybe pick up you child from school?

I always thought you were safe from lightning in your car. It's just the getting to the car that is dangerous. Am I wrong?

I can only think of one time that I changed my plans due to lightning... got to the grocery store and didn't feel like risking my life getting into the store, so I went back home. Other than that, it's just a little bit of a hassle to get off the computer, unplug the TV, and put off taking a shower until the storms pass. No big whoop, I guess. The thing that worries me is having my house catch fire since my dogs are inside by themselves when I'm at work. If it weren't for them, it wouldn't bother me much.

Nope. I may have had to leave a little earlier to get there on time, but I've always been able to drive there.
