This is our first trip and we are going September 21st to 29th how bad is the heat and the crowds in that time.............

I don't like the heat I don't care so much about the crowds but not the heat but I will do it for DISNEY

It will def be warm..we found the crowds to be great!!! only bad thing was there was ALOT of love bugs that time of year...they didnt ruin our trip but they def were annoying esp by the pool

We LOVE going in September! The crowds aren't bad, the weather is still warm, but not blistering. Last year the love bugs were pretty bad, but only at the dock at WL did i see them in massive numbers. The only thing you really have to worry about is hurricanes!

September middle of the month 2003, Crowds were great (they did not have free dining then) actually there were none! That's how great they were.

Yes, unfortunately it is hot and humid... and rained once everyday... I'm lucky I love the heat, so it really didn't bother me...

I would say most rides have a/c, so it may not be that bad for you.... Drink alot of water and take a pool break in the afternoon as that is when it is probably the hottest!:)

:) How did you feel about the free dining crowds? I have heard that you notice the restaurants being extra full, but just curious on the crowd level in the parks... Also, what time of September did you go? Thank you!!!!!:)

Yes the restaurants are full...I definitely recommend making your ADRs ahead of time. And by ahead of time, I mean ASAP when you book your trip. The crowd level is breathtakingly LOW. A friend of mine is a Disney CM in operations at the Magic Kingdom and he said that during summer season when kids are off school, they have 80,000 people. In September and January, they have 18,000. That is some serious difference!!!

Even last year with Free Dining, we went the third week in Sept and the longest we waited to get on a ride was 30 minutes for Pirates of the Caribbean. We rode Expedition Everest 4 times in a row. I have never seen WDW so uncrowded. Sept is a great time to go! Don't worry about hurricanes, they've only closed the parks 3 times in history, and even then they send all the characters to the resorts to entertain the guests.

Yikees! I went in September 2 years ago- never ever again. Kind of like having a baby-very painful but great memories. There was free dining-that was great-no crowds- that was great, heat was bad. Too hot to walk to the pool seriously. But I am a wimp from Chicago! Go and try to stay cool. Get some ADRs in nice air-conditioned restaurants. Get wet on splash mountain and Kali River Rapids. You will have fun!

I really don't have a 'September non-free dining' trip to compare it to, but I can compare it to June. June was by far much much hotter than September and the crowds were heavier. During our Sept. '05 trip, we were able to do everything we wanted to do, no problem. I did have to compromise on times as far as dining is concerned, but we were able to eat everywhere we wanted to eat. It was also that trip that I drove through Hurricane Rita to get to the airport. Both of my Sept. trips were late Sept. Hopefully we'll be returning this Sept. It's just my favorite time to go!

I've also been in September - 2002 - no free dining then. I'm going this year the week before the OP is going.

When I got off the plane and went outside I was reminded of how HUMID and HOT Florida is, I live in Texas, I should be used to the heat but I'm not.

I did notice that Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom is beyond CROWDED with strollers after noon - unless your one of the ones with a stroller I'd suggest going on the rides in Fantasyland before NOON. We never did get on Snow White in 2002 for it being so crowded.

Other parks were a breeze - in fact, a couple of mornings we got to ride whatever ride we were on over and over until other people showed up.

I went in late sept early oct 2005, with free dining. Weather was humid but not overly hot. We made out reservations in advance for the restruants, but as the trip ended it was getting more crowded due to columbus day, but the longest i waited for a ride was about 45 min (Sorin) and that was new at the time. Going back this year, but a week earlier to avoid that Colubmus day crowd!

Thank you, TheLastPrincess and MomOfThreeGamers:goodvibes

I love all the imput! I can't wait!!!:woohoo:

Thank you all so much for your information. I was worried about the heat and also about me being not such a small person
My butt is shaped like Donald Duck's I am thinking
But I found something about being big and the rides and it says that most people being heavy still can do the rides that is so awesome I feel so much better now

I was crying the other night and told hubby that I didn't want to go due to my size and I couldn't ride things and all but looks good now

Can't wait

Well, if Sept. is anything like August, it will be hot and humid. The crowds will very, if you are there during free DDP, there will be alot of people.

Make your dinner res. early and stick to them, they generaly only take people with res. when it gets busy. :headache:

Dumb question: What in the world are "LOVE BUGS"!!!????

They are harmless, little black bugs about a half-inch long. They are pretty stupid, and look drunk when they fly around. They were EVERYWHERE the first few days we were in WDW in Sept last year. Most of them you see stuck together because they are mating. A nuisance, but nothing to get your panties in a wad over.

yes the love bugs were bad last september. we have went the past 2 septembers and are about to enjoy our third free dining year this coming september. Yes it is very hot and I am from the north so yes I do have a hard time dealing with it, but no way will I let it ruin my trip.

Here is some advice:
I started walking a few months before my trip, I am a overweight female who never walks anywhere. I exercise 4 times a week but that is different, walking is walking.
Also keep your self hydrated because the heat will get to you and make you feel dehydrated.
I think the walking before hand helped me alot because I don't think I could handled the heat and all of the walking that goes along with a disney vacation.

Go and enjoy yourself- there are plenty of things to do and see that are inside with the a/c, enjoy these immensely. It does cool down a bit at night, this is when we would sit by the pool with drink in hand.

momofthreegamers - The only thing you really have to worry about is hurricanes!

LOL! Is that all? It may have been foolish but we have never bought insurance on any of our trips. This is the first trip we bought insurance for. Im worried about hurricanes more than anything!:sad2:

Thank God we never had any problems in the past.

I am also a mother of 3 gamers too! God help us...LOL!
