How bad is Mama Melrose?

I am so nervous about this one! Last I saw it, got horrible reviews, but its the only place in Hollywood that we can get the Fantasmic package with. We are Italian and I'm nervous its going to be horrible

I absolutely love Mama Melrose, especially for the selections Hollywood Studios has to offer. The staff is incredibly attentive, and the chefs are amazing with what they can do! I went feeling nervous as well, because I was on a restricted diet, but the chef came out and talked to me, genuinely wanted to help, and he delivered! The gluten free pizza was fantastic, and they made me an amazing dessert. You can check out my review if you like...it's the first one at the link below!

Don't let the naysayers sway you away from this place. If you like Italian food, you will like Mama's. It's one of our favorite table service restaurants in HS. Everytime we have been the food has been excellent and staff wonderful.

I also love its decor and location.

I also was nervous to book this for Fantasmic since it's not very cheap when you're paying out of pocket. I read a ton of reviews and found both positive and negative, but in general it seems most people like it. Once I read it was similar to Olive Garden, that was good enough for me. Sold! So we'll see in a few months.....

We were just there a few weeks ago. It was okay. We've been there before and this time was much better. Its on par with olive garden, not a good italian place, but I had chicken parm because I was in the mood for that and it was okay, not great but not bad. My DH had the pasta with shrimp - that was good. We had the calamari app (we are on the deluxe plan and the waiter let us use that as 1 app, not two) and the clams. They were both good. We didn't get dessert. Overall the meal was good, but just dont expect high quality italian food.

I'd rate their sauce pretty poor

Overall it was ok - Calamari app for 2 is good with the hot peppers. I had a good fish dish - maybe mahi or tuna (dont remember)

We'll go back - especially since we like the F! package and we avoid H&V and can't use 2 credits on HBD - I'd just avoid the red sauce dishes

I also equate it to Olive Garden. We skip MM, but that's because we can get better Italian at home. MM isn't bad, it just isn't our cup of tea.

We were there for Fantasmic dining package last week and it was by far our worst dining experience encountered at Disney.

Our reservation was at 3:30 and we barely got out in time for the Fantasmic seating, we had to run to Sunset Blvd.

Our server was dreadful, didn't refill our drinks, took forever to take our orders and messed up our checks.

The steaks were served cold, the rest of the food was OK, nothing great.

Maybe we just had a bad run, but we won't do it again. Next time we will go back to Brown Derby.

I am pretty easy to please, and I went in with an open mind. I am not a food snob and didn't expect greatness. It was ridiculous and not in a good way.

It makes me really sad to have to post this.

It can't be as bad as it was for us all the time, some people do like it.

Disney doesn't seem to have great Italian food anywhere, but it is good. And MM is really nicely themed and the servers we've had there have really been fun. Nice location too.

We went last year for a Fantasmic dinner package. We really enjoyed it. Check in was crazy, lots of people in a teeny space, and the bathroom line was long but the food and service was good.

Mama Melroses use to be soooooo good. It was one of my favorite places to eat. They use to have this Warm Goat Cheese In Tomato Sauce appitizer that was delicious. They also use to have an Orecchiette pasta dish thats was super.....
