How bad is construction noise during the day at DLH?

I've got reservations for four nights at DLH in two weeks, and I made the mistake of seeing some hotel reviews on Trip Advisor. (I know, they are notoriously negative for any hotel.) Lots of complaining about how rundown it is and noisy with construction. But I'm wondering if DISers can report about how it's been during the day. I'd like to get my son to nap for at least an hour so he can get through the evening. We requested the tower nearest the monorail. I think that's Dream? Don't know, of course, if we'll get it.

Should I transfer to the PP theme park view for $56 more? I've stayed there and I do like that hotel, but we never used the pool. My son does like the DLH pool. I don't think PP's is as nice as that at DLH. But maybe I''m wrong about that. It looks pretty spartan in the photos.

We were very happy with the PP when we stayed there. We didn't use the pool area tho, it was January. :) Our room was quite large, we had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch, it was very large. We also had a theme park view and it was super cool to be able to look outside and see the pier, we really enjoyed ourselves there. :)

We were there last week and it was great! No noise at all, actually.

The Dreams Tower is the closest to the monorail. We typically request that one as well, but have stayed in all the towers. Sometimes we don't get our request granted, unfortunately.

We are here right now and there is no evidence of construction. Pool bars and arcade are close though. We are in magic tower overlooking the parking lot. The traffic can be a bit noisy and we are on the 6th floor. But both kids and hubby are asleep right now so apparently it's not too noisy!

They really do a good job of soundproofing the rooms. We've been there during the construction and it's not been a problem for our daughter to nap (and we always nap!). It sounds like the smaller pool is open? (We're going Aug 28-30 and I'm trying to figure out what pool is open).

We've also had that parking lot view before ;-) - feel free to ask for an upgrade (really friendly and with a smile). I went down to the front desk (it was a weekday) after breakfast and asked... they upgraded us to a Mickey Suite with a view of downtown disney! From parking lot view to "a view"! It was awesome. Just for asking! (I made sure to send the castmember a big thank you letter later - hopefully his boss saw how awesome he was and gave him a raise! I believe it was "Jason from Irvine")
