How bad is 9/12 - 9/15?

I've gone is Sept before and loved the weather and low attendence, but I can't remember what we we went in. How bad will the crowds be since this is the weekend after Labor Day?

In past years, it's been great, unless you have a mortal fear of "love-bugs".

This year, with FTP, I couldn't even guess. I've heard resorts are packed and crowds are above normal.

Still, if you stick with the age-old and correct advice of hitting your chosen park early and pools in the afternoon, you should be fine.

This time last year we did all the major fantasy-land rides in under three hours by starting as soon as the parks opened.

As I said though, with FTP you might expect a different scenario with the crowds. Looks like "off season" won't be so "off" with year.

We're going a bit later in Sept.this year, but most years we go to WDW the first or second week after Labor Day. It is a perfect time at WDW-crowds manageable, weather still plenty warm. As always, the risk of thunderstorms each day--but in actuality, it almost never rains and if it does, the storms almost are always over in a hour or so.

FTP? Love-Bugs?

I'm a Disney vet and I have no idea what you're talking about. Help! I'm starting my trip on Sep 19th.

I have never encountered the pesky little insects.. but this is what google says about love bugs.

"The "love bug" nickname seems to have evolved by the visible in-flight mating of the species. Females emerge from their larvae into a swarm of males and are grasped by a darting male. The pair falls to the ground where they couple and eventually take flight – often into the path of your speeding vehicle."

I guess they are prevalent in Florida and get all over your cars and are seem unavoidable during their mating time... Hence the name Love bugs. :)

It's the discounted package that Disney announced and sold sometime in mid-May of this year.

I hadn't been planning to take a trip this year, but the siren call of a relatively inexpensive package lured me into making a reservation for the 12th through the 19th of September. I love Sept. because the crowds are usually way down and I can go and have a great time.

(I visit WDW alone, and it's fabulous )

I keep hearing that crowds are up and I'm thinking "Yikes!"

Even with the success of the FTP's, September will be great. As it was mentioned, the love bugs are a bit annoying (I'm already starting to see them), and they love bright colors (white seems to be a perennial favorite). It may be busier than normal, but I don't think it will be too awful.

and your weekdays will be great. Saturday and Sunday though, will be much busier, but still not bad. Expect waits on the weekends, minimal if any on the weekdays.

I had forgotten all about the FTP. I hope it won't be too bad, kids in school and all. I do remember the lovebugs. They were really bad the year I went, but only by the pools. As long as I stayed near or in the water, they left me alone, though. Thanks for the info!

I'm going to Disney!!!! LOL I just booked the air and hotel. I was going to wait until after work to see if prices were the same. If they had changed, I knew it wasn't ment to be. But, the storms are coming thru and work just called saying they had no power and not to bother coming in. I took that as an omen to book. Thanks for all of your help! Now if I can remember to leave the white shirts at home. ;)

Just a correction - Sept 12 is 2 weekends after labor day which is on Sept 1. You will be fine, except Sat in the MK.

Even with the FTP, I think September will be okay. Most families don't want to take their kids out this close to the start of school. Even if you look here on the Dis, most FTP people took it in August or are waiting for October. Saturdays are a madhouse at MK because that's the only time to see Spectro. We go just to see the parade and forego any rides. As for the lovebugs, they are annoying, but don't bite. We've been three times in September and only one time were they really noticable. But noticeable is not so bad that it bothered me.

We leave 9/5 and hope to find the crowds as manageable as years past. Have fun.

:p DW and I went last Sept. 13-17 and there were no crowds except on Staurday at MK. We left and went back on Monday and MK was nearly deserted. We walked on every ride. We did MGM on Friday (no lines), EPCOT Saturday (deserted), AK on Sunday (no lines) and MK on Monday (no lines).

Just remember there is no Fall weather in Florida, it is still very hot and humid but the small crowds make it bearable.:p

Bluefairy, you are absolutely right about being 2 weekends after LD. Grandparents day is on the 7th, I guess I didn't look close enough at my calander. :o

I'll concur with "plenty warm":D If you're a water park or pool person that's great though:)
