How bad can Sun afternoon at EPCOT F&W really be?

So I have an after 2PM convention ticket (non-hopper) and debating whether to do MK for the five hours it's open because of MVMCP or going to EPCOT. I REALLY, REALLY love the F&W and want to spend that Sunday at EPCOT and so does my mom. However, it is marathon weekend and I can't enter until 2. Will the crowds really be horrible from 2-close on marathon Sunday? So much so that we'd be happier in the presumably much less crowded MK? Wondering what I can expect for kiosk lines and in the shops so I can make a good decision. Thanks for any input!

We were there the Friday and Saturday of opening weekend - you know, the days that were absolute chaos - we left both days by about 4, but we were able to eat and drink everything we wanted! I'd think a Sunday later in the season would be manageable.

We go on Sunday, not as bad as Sat., not as good as a Mon through Thurs., not sure how the race would affect it.

I would do Food and Wine. You might get lucky and it's an overcast day! The sun can be hot (was just there last week) but there are some places to duck into and cool down. It might be crowded, but so will MK because it's a Sunday (party or not, lol!). We were there this past Friday night, and the longest we waited in a Kiosk line was maybe 10 minutes, and that was at the Chew Labs sustainable kiosk. Most places were 5 mins or less. This was between 4pm and 8pm this past Friday night. Epcot was crowded, but we were still able to push a double-wide thru with only issues at pinch points (Mexico, for instance).

There will be a lot of people, and some lines may seem long, but you can get food and drinks without waiting a long time in many places.

I think if you really want to do F&W, you should! In 2013, we happened to be at F&W on the Saturday of the Tower of Terror 10-Miler event. I'll be honest with you, it was chaos. Not sure how much of that was the fact it was Saturday and how much of it was the race crowd, but despite the crowds we still had a good time. I would suspect a Sunday would perhaps draw a slightly lesser crowd.
It will be what you make of it. One tip we found really helpful was splitting up to wait in the lines (DH waited in one queue, I waited in another and we would meet up to share whatever we ordered). Definitely allowed us to cover more ground versus waiting together.

DITTO. The run affects it by bringing in people/families who stay for the (entire) weekend. the run was the night before, so you will see some really stiff achy people who are very hungry! LOL!

We've been on a Saturday and a Sunday before. Very crowded, yes, but doable. I definitely prefer weekdays, but if I could only go on the weekend, I would still go.

We've been on Sunday before and thought it was crowded and slightly rowdier than normal, but manageable.

I've done MK on a Sunday on marathon weekend, as you're contemplating. It was supposed to be a 1 crowd level but we found it to be much more crowded--felt more like a 6 or 7. YMMV.

Thanks for all for the replies. I've been to the F&W a few times and really love it, however, my mom - who will be with me- does not do well with crowds no matter how well I know how to navigate! So after reading posts it might not be a good fit for her no matter how much I want to go. I'm in town for a conference so it may be worth it for me to go Monday evening by myself after she heads back home.
