How bad are the drops on...

The drop in the dark on Splash Mountain, IMO, is worse than the "big drop" on Space Mountain.

Indiana Jones does not have any drops, so you have nothing to be worried about there. The only part of that ride that could remotely be considered a drop is at the end when you encounter the rolling ball and then going under it.
And that part of the ride is taken at such a slow speed, you hardly notice you're going down hill.

As for the butterflys in your stomach feeling, well everyone is different. I rarely get that feeling anymore when I go on theme park rides (been on over 100 roller coasters). And when a ride gives me that sensation, personally, I like it! None of the rides at Disneyland or DCA give me that feeling.

Thanks so much for this!

If you can handle the big drop in splash mountain, there is nothing in space mountain or Indiana jones you won't be able to handle.

I hate the "butterflies in the stomach" feeling too, which is why I haven't been on splash mountain since I was a child because of that huge drop at the end. Space mountain and Indiana jones are 2 of my favorite rides. I don't get that horrible feeling at all while riding those rides.

Indiana jones is jerky with 1 mild drop.

Space mountain has minor drops but it's more about the quick turns. For me, the fact I can't see what's coming is what makes this ride doable for me. I hate roller coasters, yet I love space mountain. I never have to look ahead and dread what's to come because I can't see. It's awesome!

Thanks for all the information! I guess the drops are no big deal on SM. Either way, I will be dragged on the rides by my DD. If you see a grown woman crying on these rides in Sept. it will most likely be me. Thanks again. Now I have a better idea what to expect. :)

haha! I think it will be a grown woman yelling "Let's get back in line and ride again!"

Embrace the feeling. It's all part of the thrill :)

Have a great time

For me, Indy is so loud and jerk that I don't even have time to think about the drops! Space Mountain is similar, I spend the entire ride thinking, "What is going ON right now ?!" and can't even remember a large drop.

I'm very curious about the motion sickness medicine mentioned, almost to the point of starting a thread about it. I would love to be able to go on Dumbo and the Silly Swings with my kids but it makes me feel so sick to do so :guilty:

Oh, September? You can come sit by me while we wait for our families to get done with the silly rides. We'll have a churro. It'll be great.

I don't do Space Mountain or the Matterhorn. I've done Splash Mountain, no, thanks, I'm good, don't need to ride it again. There's an infamous photo of me from Tower of Terror, the big group photo? You can clearly see my tonsils in it, I'm screaming so hard. And I was 24 years old at that time. I do ride IJ, but I've never kept my eyes open the whole ride because on top of my fear of falling, I'm also afraid of things jumping out at me. I've also never ridden the Haunted Mansion with my eyes open the entire time, either.

Back when I was younger, my parents and sister would get in line on Space Mountain and I'd just ride the PeopleMovers over and over until they were done. I loved the PeopleMovers. I miss them.

I'm a big chicken when it comes to rides & i think splashs drop is a pretty good drop.... indy to me isn't scarry & I don't really remember any drops. Space doesn't have drops its just a little scarry because its dark but once you get used to it its ok. All in all none of these compare to the jurassic park ride at universal studios 84ft. Drop!!! Ill never do that again....

Yay! I just might take you up on the offer! You are by far much braver than I. I would NEVER make it on TOT... I get nervous just walking past the thing!

The motion sickness medicine is Meclizine (brand name is Bonine). You can take it once a day (25 mg) and it works AND does NOT make you sleepy!

Indy is definitely safe - I dislike the Splash drops too! Space only has one little drop the rest is like going over a bump in the road or more a spiraling down motion. It sounds like you have more of a fear of the unknown than the ride itself - like my best friend. She recommends the front on space as she can see what is coming - it's not that dark that you can't. Neither one of us will ride splash again but call these two favs!

Peer pressure is a horrible thing. I'm no longer friends with the person who got me onto that ride.

(Not specifically because they made me ride TOT. But their lack of concern for my feelings was a part of it.)

Ever since having children I can't do drops. That being said, ToT is out, Cali Screaming out. The only other one for me, but I still do it is Goofy's Sky School. And this last time we went it didn't seem so bad. I love SM. I see it more as you going down hill turning mostly to one direction.

BTW, Indy is one of my favorite rides. You must try it!!! :thumbsup2
