How bad are crowds at Easter?

We're starting to think about dates for 2015, ideally we would prefer to go in May, but with DD having SATS and some family members having milestone birthdays I don't know whether we can work around all the dates.

As an alternative we are thinking of maybe switching to the April holidays, our DD's School closes 3-17th April for Easter. Are the crowds really bad at Easter time? and when does US spring break start? Thanks in advance :)

Crowds are heavy the week leading up to the Easter weekend, fine the week after, but never too bad. Arrive early, take your time, it's all good.

The week before and after Easter are busy. Probably one of the 3 busiest times of year (the others being Xmas and 4th July).

US spring breaks start in Feburary and run through until the week after Easter as they don't have a set week.

Thanks for the info, this is the first time we've had to include school holidays so either month will probably be a bit busier than we've been used to in the past.

We are early risers though and are always at the parks for rope drop or EMH so hopefully that will work in our favour :)

We went easter 2012 as I'm a teacher & had to work round hols too. In all honesty I didn't find it too bad! We made the most of early and late magic hours and went back to our resort at the busiest times. We also booked some character meals at resorts over the bank holiday weekend so we still got to do fun stuff without facing the bank holiday crowds :-)

I've been twice at Easter and found it to be quite busy (slightly busier than August) but it didn't stop us from going on rides, meeting characters or eating in the parks (we may have just queued a bit longer).

Get there early and make the most of FP and it'll be great. Weather was warm too.

We went at Easter 2010 - and to be honest I was worried about it.

But it was FINE! The weather was fab, and the crowds weren't as bad as I expected.

We got up early, got to the parks early, did all the crowd-pullers before it got too busy, then did something calmer in the afternoons. If it got too busy we headed back to the resort. Mornings and fastpasses will be your friends.

I'd go back at Easter time again actually, if it had to be school holidays.

I'd happily do Easter again. Crowds were heavy running up to Easter weekend and seemed to taper off around midweek following Easter. We found it varied a bit on the two Easter trips we did, due to how Easter falls in the month and relative to Spring Break, but certainly very doable.
